I live in Washington, so I havent SEEN any games yet....

1) Alvin Mitchell -- how's he looked? How far away is he from 20-25 min/gm?

2) Rashad -- sounds like he's smooth.. comments on his play so far??

3) Deonta at the point -- rough games vs Belmont then bounced back with 9 assts vs West Car.... comments on whether he can be a good floor leader for us??

4) Biggie - does he look uncoordinated or like he can contribute this season?

Thanks

My observations to your questions....

1) Alvin did not look very comfortable in any of the games. Mick has referred to him as instant offense so we will see. Hopefully it was just freshman jitters.

2) Rashad actually impressed me the most. He is very smooth and I like his hustle, he looked very comfortable out there.

3) Deonta was definitely streaky in his shooting and passing. I am not sure if he is the answer to point guard. I think that I was more comfortable with Warren running the point. However Deonta played alot of minutes in each game. It may just have been him being tired.... I HOPE.

Sorry...

4) Biggie looked good in my opinion. He was not as uncoordinated as I thought. He is going to be great to watch!! He is going to block a lot of shots and the crowd will love it. He does need to maybe try to control the ball on the blocks instead of sending them 10 rows into the crowd.

1. MIthcell won't be getting 20-25 min anytime soon, he has a good upside but not ready defensively for that many mins yet.
avg 12 min 2 pt 1 rb 0 ast

2. Bishop is smooth and is getting that many mins now
He's always under control can score, rebound and make assists
avg 24 min 8 pts 4 rb 1 ast

3. Vaughn has no choice but to be the floor leader until Warren gets back, but he is ok at PG
avg 37 min 13 pts 4 rb 5 ast

4. Biggie is very coordinated and body is proportioned well, I think he has a foot issue now but will get mins against teams with big men, won't with guard orientated teams
avg 8 min 4 pts 3rb 1 ast

What foot issue?

Biggie injured his foot/ankle in the Bowling Green game. He is on crutches, he may not play against Coastal Carolina.

Has a sore spot on the top of his foot. Some reports say he was even on crutches yesterday...but unconfirmed.

i think he hurt his foot before the bowling green game when someone stepped on the top of his foot.. if he is on crutches i bet its just until he plays.. or when he is not practicing becuase he carries so much weight.. i bet he will be playing tomorrow.. as for the other players.. alvin looks a little loss he is still my favorite player though.. he will be real good.. he needs to adjust to how much quicker he needs to get his shot off in college and not be so hesitant.. i like that he is not as big of a ball hulk as he was in high school but it seems he looks to pass every time.. when we played nku he drove twice and looked real good.. vaughn isnt the best gaurd ever but he is good and the best player right now on the team until we mature... bishop is looking great and real talented.. the numbers biggie is putting up in just 8 min are great.. i think he should be playing 15 to 20 min b/c in that time he is big enough to abg a double double against these type of teams and about 3 blocks..one day he will be avg a double double with about 15 pts maybe 12 boards and 3 or 4 blocks... he is just that big! Davis is a steal and will be good, looks good already he can shoot! i think anthony is sitting b/c of the injury and youth, but i would start him over adam, see other posts for why

After watching the three games....here is my take.

Mitchell looks like a freshman who has a ton of talent. Needs to figure things out before he can start using it.

Bishop looks like possibly the best all around player on the team right now. Honestly - forget the stat lines Kid can pass, rebound, has a nice touch and he doesn't play fast.

Deonta looks terrible IMO. Bad shot selection. Not running his shots through the offense. Can't make entry passes. Drags on chasing his man on D.

Biggie is a force on D. Makes shot blocking look easy. Runs the floor really well. Needs to figure out his spacing on offens better. He and Bishop look like real keepers early on.

I'm not quite as optimistic as some of the others on this thread, but it is still early.

I've been to 4 of the 5 games, and so far it's pretty clear that Bishop seems the most ready to play now. He is smooth and lets the game come to him. Alvin M looks over-rated to me. I'm hoping he breaks out. Davis hasn't done much. The big kid looks coordinated, but he is at least a year maybe 2 away from being a real factor. Remember he has been playing against much smaller players so far. Wilks has hardly seen the floor, and I have yet to see Belton.

Deonta. What can you say about Deonta? If you want a PG who hogs the ball, has a ton of turnovers and shoots ill-advised 3s that turn into fast breaks the other way, then he is your guy. In fairness he is not a PG.

Overall I'm somewhat disappointed with the talent relative to how they have been sold to the fan base going in. If UC was still in C-USA I wouldn't be as worried long term. But this is the BE, and this is half the team we will be seeing the next 4 years. I'm hoping for a little more, but it is still early.

Have some patience please. Plus, Davis hasn't done much? Sounds to me like he has.

Alvin – Has been a bit disappointing, he seems to be lost and completely uncomfortable on the court. With that being said, I still expect BIG things from him, he is a true athlete, and experience can only make him more comfortable on the court.

Rashad– is probably the best freshman on the team at this time, looks smooth, and has a good little running jumper.

Deonta – obviously our best player, can flat out shoot the ball. He seems to becoming a better point guard every game, which is a good thing.

Biggie – seems to be a project in my opinion, he is very coordinated for his size. He doesn’t have the john Williamson or hick’s intensity, which is something that has to change. He won’t be able to get away with going up to get a rebound one handed, which is what he seems to do very often. In my opinion biggie plays extremely soft, hopefully in time that will change.

everyone on this team needs time to develop, i expect to see significant progress throughout the season
