In today's bracket, Jerry Palm on CollegeRPI.com has the Bearcats a #6 seed vs #11 Utah State in the 1st round in Chicago.

2nd Round would be vs #3 Purdue
Sweet 16 would be vs #2 San Diego St., or #7 UNC, or #10 Kansas State

Pitt is a #1 seed, so a good measuring stick tomorrow. I don't expect a W, but need to look respectable. The next 3 after Pitt are very winnable.

obviously this will not be the real bracket come March, but i would feel pretty good about these first three matchups considering how the other brackets look

Lunardi has the Cats as an 8 seed in his bracketology.

I think this speaks further to my post earlier this week: the WV loss stinks, but other teams competing with us for a mid-level seed have not been lighting it up. Thus we gain momentum in these bracket projections despite not having played this week.

The key is for the Bearcats to take care of business at home. Beat St. John's and beat Louisville, UConn or Georgetown, preferably two of of three, and they have the signature wins that they need without having to go on the road as well as 20+ wins. Also, Xavier is a quality win now OOC, Dayton is still a good win, but Oklahoma is starting to turn into a good win. They're 12-8 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12, which is arguably the 2nd or 3rd best conference in America.

It's do-able. They just need to win games. They can't afford to dump any more at home, like they did against WVU.
