OK... what will we see from the Cats tonight after 4 days of practice, and 3 games on film to view. Will we see improved play from the freshman? Will they be lost on the defensive and offensive sets? Will they come out and stick it to Coastal? One of the things I noticed over the weekend games was how uncomfortable Alvin and Darnell looked when they were out there. If anyone watched the Syracuse and Memphis games.... wow their freshman looked amazing. I know they were higher ranked and better players but they were way more impressive than our freshman. Let me know what you think we can expect tonight.
GO CATS!!!

I think you will continue to see a young team struggling to find its way.

improvement.. more intensity.. atleast i hope.. i want to see them come out all over the ball on defense.. their talented enough to where if they cone out intense on defense they will see a lower shooting percentage against them and will pull out the win by about 8 to 12 pts... we must do this b/c coastal carolina shoots for a high percentage.. we cant let up open shots and if we dont step i up when they do ge wide open shots ill be frustrated!

I am really liking the Bishop kid! He has shown me some things in the first three games. I think we will get better....we have to right?

Never thought we'd see Deonta Vaughn play like THIS. Where'd this accuracy come from?

He's a shooter. Shooters run hot and cold. He's been cold. Now he's hot.
Next year, Cashmere Wright at PG and Deonta Vaughn at SG.

Okay, give us blind people (as in no TV) in the hinterlands an idea of how they looked.
Defense better? A lotta fouls, so I guess they're playing tighter.
Did Deonta hog the ball or was he the go to guy (he shot the lights out, so I guess they put the ball in his hands as much as possible)?
How'd the freshmen look?
Davis in the dog house?
What's Mitchell's shooting problem?
Intensity?

Deonta didn't hog the ball, but he didn't need to look to give it up too much, either, which means he still had it a lot.

In his post game show, Mick expressed surprise that Coastal continued to defend the paint even after Deonta kept hitting. Deonta remained open, so he kept shooting.

The TEAM looked better. Granted Deonta had an amzing night and we finally had a team that didn't shoot the lights out. The play was much smoother than before on offense. Still wasn't the prettiest thing I've seen, but it was a step in the right direction fo' sure.

What was the deal with no "biggie" tonight, I went to the St. X-Colerain game and only caught the last few seconds of the post game...

Someone stepped on his foot in practice, he didn't play.
I was at the game for only the first half, then went to the Colerain/St X game but I thought the offense was horrible, no one drove to the basket, luckily Vaughn was on fire tonight.
All they did was pass the ball back and forth!!

The team played better defense. Not great but the intensity was up. They still have problems off the dribble. They still looked young but overall it was a huge improvement. We will see a bigger step after 8 days off to practice and the Fairfield game. Mitchell looks to be playing tight and to be thinking all the time. What he needs is a game where he hits a few shots or makes some big defensive plays. Once he makes plays he'll relax. My guess is that he is questioning himself right now. He doesn't have the swagger he had. Bishop was an absolute steal and he is going to be a very good player.

I completely agree! I think Mitchell does need that game to get comfortable. He looks timid and unsure. Defense, hustle, and attitude was so much better! Rashad has impressed me very much.
It was nice to see that Biggie and Mike seem to be getting along well. The cameras had showed them on the bench talking, smiling, and laughing. That will be good if they build a good relationship to keep biggie here if he has a breakout year next year and Mike gets his extra year. Biggie Junior, Mike Senior, Deonta Senior, and Gates Soph.... and... well you get the picture. Will be a great time to be a Bearcatfan!!

When/if McClain has a breakout year, he'll be gone to the NBA. 7-footers who can play go to the NBA as soon as they can.

Biggie would be nuts to "try" to leave after one year. I don't think he'll be anywhere close to first round material.

I find it hilarious that people think that Biggie is going to leave anytime soon. Have you seen his footwork, his touch, his overall basketball skill is terrible. He will make the league and he will be a big timer but the NBA wont be an option until after his Junior year. I like Biggie and think he could be a force and want to see him play more but if anybody thinks he is near ready to make the jump I would have to disagree. If Hibbert and Gray and others need time I am sure Biggie will need it too.

He will leave the first year he shows NBA ability.

I wish you would stop posting your opinion as fact.
It's just as likely he'll be like Kenyon and stay 4 years. Since neither of us can predict the future* and since neither of us can read his mind, I'd say neither of us knows for a fact what he'll do.
*I do have to admit, you've proven very adept at predicting the past. Endlessly.

This is a message board where people post their opinions.
Kenyon first showed NBA ability in 1999 but wanted to stay for a shot at the NCAA title in 2000.
McClain is 7-footer. Kenyon 4 or 5 inches shorter. Big difference.

I dont understand why you think he would go at any chance. Maybe we are now recruiting kids who want to stay, win, and get better like they do at schools like Duke. I know our old coach didnt buy into this philosphy but you must have experience to win when it counts. I will take quality basketball players that want to get better over an "athelete" that is looking to get paid as soon as possible. Dont get me wrong I dont blame guys like Demerr that were ready but the Kenny Satterfields are the types that can go elsehwere for all I care. Biggie might like being in college, and to say he is gone if he has some sucess I think is premature.
Mick has said repeatedly that as soon as Biggie is good enough, he'll be gone.

My point was that it was nice to see that Biggie and Mike are hitting it off and laughing and joking and smiling and if Mike gets his extra year of eligibility and Biggie were to play well and be NBA ready next year.... well if he has built relationsips and friendships then it will help his decision to stay another year especially if a national championship is a possibility. Biggie may not be ready til his Senior year but in his Junior year there will be plenty of talent and should be an NCAA appearance with a possible deep run. Who knows when he will be ready... no one knows for sure!

Yep. Those who sign 7-footers know that.

Exept when they play for other BE schools like Georgetown and Pitt right? They have had 7+ footers and they could have gone after their junior year and Hibbert would have been a top 10 probably a top 5 pick.

LOLOLOLOLOL...Duke??? Are you actually comparing UC with Duke? Believe it or not, Duke's academics are a bit higher, and, most of the Duke players actually want to graduate.

I said (repeating) he's gone when/if he shows he's ready for the NBA.
Same thing happens at Duke. Frosh, soph, junior, or senior - when they're NBA ready, they go from Duke also.
