With the recent losses of Warren and Brown I wonder where we stand as far as recruiting goes? Are there other prospects out there that we are looking at or is it a situation where the staff is going to have to watch the high school season to see how prospect develop and sign somebody in the spring? My thought is we have to use at least 1 more scholly for '08. We have to secure either a wing player that can shoot or another wide body that can defend and rebound. I don't see anyone on the radar but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. Anybody have any information (Mike)?

I have no information but I'd GUESS UC will sign 2 more this year and hold 1 over in case Mike Williams gets a 6th year (to play his 4th season).
Who? Foreign players? JuCo players? 5th year Preps? Late blooming HSers?

Thats probably as good as a plan as any right now. Top 2008 players are effectively gone with maybe one or two remaining.
2009 is wide open still with only a handful of the top 100 guys taken.
With 6 freshmen on the team and Deonta a soph, we could possibly afford pulling in just two 2008 players in Cash and Yancy. Three would be better though and a true SF would be ideal for position balance. But at this point we might want the 'best available athlete'. Then I'm hoping Mike Williams will be a junior athletically in the fall of 2008.

Just a couple of things I find intereting:
1. J'Covan Brown verbals to Texas but decides to wait until the spring to officially sign and Mike leaves his interest level at a 4?? Maybe he is working on getting over his fear of flying and will go back on his verbal in the spring and come north.
2. Scotty Hopson has not yet signed with Miss State and possibly maybe reconsider. Rivals has UC as once a school that had interest in him and he is from KY.
3. Willie Warren - unless he signed with Oklahoma, I won't believe he has committed anywhere.

There's a late bloomer (6-7 wing) in Memphis who has interest in UC and (maybe) vice versa. He's a possibility.
"...According to (Sampson) Carter he has the likes of Clemson, Virginia, Memphis, UTEP, UAB, Cincinnati, and New Mexico on his current list..."

Vaughn,Davis and Wright in the back coart>
Bishop, Mitchell, Wilks on the wings>
Williams, Belton and Gates on the blocks>
McClain at center>
thats a 10 player 2008 team>
i would say this 2008 team needs,
another center, and shooting guard
Warren signed with Oklahoma.
Still listed as a verbal according to Rivals.

1 - Yes, I found this very odd and thats why I left him at a 4, for now. Its very odd to verbally commit during a signing period, but not sign.
2 - Last I heard, Hopson had pending drug charges against him. He may not even go to a D1 school, much less a high major.
3 - I feel pretty confident that Oklahoma will get WW.

That's Bud Mackey who has drug charges pending, not Hopson.
WW signed with Oklahoma already.

after missing out on the two recruits i feel they will get one more and save a scholorship for 09.. we signed most our players last year in the fall... players like bishop will increase thier stock and i think will jump in the rankings.. my friend said he read that mick was going hard after a guy just outside the top 150 who is a good perimeter defender... when i get more info on him ill share it but we will be alright.. if we get one more solid recruit everything will fall in place right in terms of having all the players we need to make a run vaughns senior year... b/c of all the players we already have and will get.. we just need a little more... would of been nice getting those recruits but they will be fine.. bob was able to take under the radar players and develope them.. i hope mick is able to do the same b/c he will get the talent no dought about that

I think Rivals and Scout take a bit of time to update their database.

They do - so does Hoopmasters. The articles (So-n-So Signed With Such-n-Such) run ahead of the databases.
