Sounds like a scorer and a real floor general. Just don't see how he fits in with the class we got.

GB, sure he's not 2012? I read that tweet and could have sworn it said he was 2012.

I was just going off of Scout, Rivals, ESPN links. All said 2011
Article about him being named Mr. Basketball:

Hickey averaged 18.6 points, 4.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals this season. He made the game-winning assist in a 65-63 double overtime win over Rowan County in the championship game of the Sweet 16.
Hickey was named the Sweet 16 MVP after averaging 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.5 steals and 4.8 assists in four tournament games.
Also, this was just posted:http://blogs.courier-journal.com/jodydemling/2011/03/29/mr-basketballs-college-list-growing+Demling+-+Recruiting+blog%29
Christian County coach Kerry Stovall said the past few weeks have been "crazy" in regards to the recruiting process of Kentucky Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey.
The 5-foot-11 Hickey was named Sweet 16 MVP and his stock rose.
"I’m just going to take my time," Hickey said. "It’s been a lot of schools and a lot of calls. I’ll narrow it down after spring break and go from there."
Hickey has offers from Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, LSU, TCU, Cincinnati and a bunch of mid-major schools. West Virginia, Purdue, Butler, South Carolina and St. Bonaventure have also been calling a lot.
"It’s not a fluke," Stovall said.

Hickey is a senior this year... You can't win KY Mr Basketball unless you are a senior.
As far as this kids game goes... WOW is all I can say. Extremely quick with the rock and very strong. He also doubles up as his schools starting qb and led them to a state championship runner up against Ft Thomas Highlands. Anthony is a winner and his accolades speak for themselves.
Would love to have him but not sure where he'd fit in due to us having Cash, Davis, and Guyn next year.

not trying to start rumors- just wondering if the looks at Hickey and Semaj Christon are an indication that Guyn wont qualify? I say Guyn and not Davis because we know Davis qualified. Either that or he is a prep school candidate (which i believe most anticipate Christon is as well).
just speculating since 2+2 dont seem to add up here- anyone who has actual knowledge feel free to chime in.

I've never heard anything about Guyn not qualifying. Everything's seemed to be full steam ahead with him.

Why wouldn't Guyn qualify? Last I heard he was doing great in prep school.

Apparently UC has offered Mr. Hickey. Sounds like he's really blowing up.

i never said he wouldnt. it just seems odd to be recruiting a 3rd point guard in one class. i am just trying to put 2 and 2 together. why offer this guy so late if we already have 2 point guards coming in?

It could be one of the recruits may not qualify. I also wonder if Jaquon Parker is considering transferring? That would explain recruiting another PG. Or if Dixon or Gates is putting their name in the draft and keeping it in...

I don't see this having to do with Gates. But Parker transferring seems like a possibility and if that were to happen, bringing Hickey in and letting Davis solely play the 2 might make some sense.
Its hard to know though. Mick always says that he never stops recruiting. In the end, that is probably what this is.
Do we know how much interest Hickey has in UC?

I wish it was. But Dixon's twitter tells a different story. He (Dixon) definitely seems to be pursuing it, as a lot of juniors do this time of year if only to get feedback. I have no idea if that's what his plan is.
It also occurs to me that pursuing a pure PG this late in the game may say something about Cash's knee issues too. I do agree with the poster that says Mick is always recruiting, so who knows.

And Darnell Wilks' facebook says he's going to the league...he has no basketball IQ what so ever, Dixon a junior let him get free practice with NBA scouts its good expierence for him and for UC...If he has any kind of brains he will not hire an agent....its a win win if he doesnt hire one

This Hickey kid must be something special if Mick is going for him instead of a big man....Bearcats are guard deep.....but then again if you look at Vill, Pitts, ST j's, and alot of the other BEAST teams they are as well only Cuse, UCONN, and Gtown gets bigs on the regular

maybe mick is just finally realizing you need two true point guards on the roster at once, instead of all these wing players.

Dixon, if anything can feel it out, get his name out there. He needs to be a more consistent jump shooter. There, that's free advice!

From Jody Demling:
The 5-foot-11 Hickey has narrowed the list to South Carolina, LSU, Dayton and potentially Butler. All have offered except Butler, which is still waiting to see if star guard Shelvin Mack opts to put his name into the NBA Draft.

If Hickey commits to Butler, he'd join fellow Kentucky prep star Kam Woods out of Louisville Eastern.

Going to LSU, for what it's worth (hardly anyone else posts, so might as well provide any "news" there is).
