(1) Bearcats are in for a long season unless the freshmen improve dramatically and Warren gets healthy enough to play PG soon.
(2) Vaughn's talent is not best utilized at PG but no choice now. No other PG available. He gets tired from playing PG and it affects his shooting / scoring.
(3) Adam H is a decent back-up C. Unfortunately he is UC's starting C.
(4) Wilks played better today. Bishop is the best of the freshmen. Mitchell hardly played. Davis is a quality back-up SG to Vaughn when Warren is back.
(5) UC doesn't rebound very well as a team.
(6) Marvin Gentry did not impress today. Williamson had a subpar game. Sikes played well off the bench.
(7) McClain will be a quality C when he gains experience and 25 pounds of muscle.
(8) If the Bearcats play the rest of the games like they did today, UC would struggle to get to 10 W. But they WILL improve as the year goes on and get a W total somewhere in the Teen's.

This team is horrible! They will get better (I hope). Good teams don't come away with zero points on an intentional foul. Adam H. Is a stiff. He is not as good as Ryan Fletcher. The kid from Western Carolina with had committed to UC scortched him. Williamson is very limited, and is not a BEast player. If he would stop trying to average 20 points a game, he could be an effective (Bostic/Eric Martin) role player.
I like all of the freshmen. Wilks is going to be a player. Mitchell is going to be fine once he gets his confidence. This team has talent, but the don't play hard or smart. I wish Mick had more positive passion. I've seen him curse guys out, put have yet to see him get excited about positive plays.
Mick has had some awful luck. I felt today like I felt watching this team loose to Dayton AK's year. That team got better. That team beat a very good LSU team two weeks later. Mick can recruit no question. Let's see if this team gets better. Let's see if he can coach.

Williamson averaged over 13 ppg and 7 rebs last year playing in BEast. He has talent, just not playing well right now.

It will seem longer if 20 or more of those games are L.
If UC doesn't play (and coach) better, that could happen.

gentry been playing well every game besides today and atleast plays hard.. if this team out hustled their opponents they would be unbeaten and mick needs to get more intense... alvin sat two games for all but min after messing up once.. its happen to davis too.. one game they will play 22 min the next they play 3... it seems like the way you start the game when you get in determines how much he plays you.. i like the debth but i dont think mick is subbing the way he should.. i think alvin needs a confinence booster..and mick needs to let him go once and that should help... bishop is real confident, wilks is after today and i think davis is too.. he can play in this league and be a factor this year.. as for john he is real talented and unlike the rest of our forwords, knows how hard you need to play in this con.. effort is the biggest thing that gets me.. we all know it could be a tough year b/c most this team needs to see what its like in the big east and the turnovers come con time will be ugly.. gotta get tough and get more intense

I'm just happy that the Cats won a game they were supposed to win (forget how many points the should have won by).
I went expecting to see a young team that might not win. And that's what I saw, but they pulled it out. They went on runs when they needed to and there is certainly potential on this team. I agree that by the end of the season this team is going to be far better than they are right now. Biggie. Wilks, and Bishop are going to be something special... Larry Davis... there's your next Field Williams.
I'm not going to guess what our record will be at the end of the year (because i'm not good at that sort of thing), but I think it will be alot better than last year and I wont feel like crap by halftime of all of our games like last year.
The thing I loved the most was, unlike last year, if someone messed up Mick could actually yank the guy because he had someone to sub in.

I saw a team that was improving. They played better team defense. The offense had a flow to it and you could actually watch plays develop. Yes, they missed shots but they were patient. The last two games t.o.s have been down. That is a positive. Alvin Mitchell is pressing too hard. He has to learn to let the game come to him. He entered the game and immediately turned the ball over and dribbled straight down and fired a shot up without passing. You can't hurt the "team" to let him come in and just make mistakes. He played a lot in the last game because they were up 20. That's when you can let him play thru mistakes. With Mitchell and Wilks playing well he may not get much time when Warren comes back. As I have said before Vaughn needs consistency. He has horrible shot selection at times. He has played better at the point the past 2 game though. Adam H. is a servicable center. He deserves a bit of a break after not playing a game in two years. Let's give him time to reacclimate to competitive basketball. He can hit FTs, and is a good passer. He anticipates contact too much and that is why he misses so many lay ups. This team needs to team rebound. I think once they learn that it will be a competitive team. I was never expecting 20 wins. I think they'll be around .500 and next season will be a coming out party. Finally, Mick is doing fine. Some of these expectations are too high for this situation. The team is progressing and that is a sign of good coaching and teaching.

If the team was improved yesterday, they must have been pretty bad earlier.
Warren at PG will help.

The team improved tremendously between the BG loss and the CC win, then they took a step back in the Fairfield win....freshmen.......
