If the Cats lose tonight it will not be the first time this season that the Cats have lost to an Atlantic Sun Conference team. The Spartans from Spartenburg (same city as Wofford) started life as a hospital school of nursing before become a full fledged university in the South Carolina system.

I hope we don't lose to the winless SC Upstarts! They did give Akron a scare.

Less than zero chance of losing to SC Upstate. The coaching staff could suit up and beat them.

SC Cupcakes?
The first 6 games were that. We're 3-2 so far. But SC Upstate doesn't even qualify for Cupcake status.

Atlantic Sun teams have also beaten Kentucky and the mighty OJ Trojans this year....but nah! Not this time - I predict UC in their 1st semi-blowout of the year - at least 15-20 pts.

'Cats DOWN by 3 at the under-12 time-out. Listening online and I can't believe what I am hearing.

They were up by 20 with about 8 minutes to play but let up on them.

they definetely did not "let up on them"
early in the second half was pretty good, maybe the best of the season, but overall it was ugly. They certainly did not let up on them, the Spartans just played harder.

That's a real headscratcher. Spartans played harder = Bearcats let up on them. duh.

They play like a subpar .500 BE. team.
As a team, I mean. They do not have a finisher>

I agree that they let up on them. Gentry and Vaughn continue to play lazy defense and it causes way too many open 3 pointers. I was really hoping to see more freshman play as I think that is the only was to a somewhat successful season. The seniors just don't have the basketball talent and the basketball IQ to compete at a high level.

Coastal Carolina was probably the best game of the year.. we ran a flow offense that game and were more intense.. i think we won by like 15 that game...tonight we had some good moments but we let up.. we ran away with it early second half b/c we stepped up the intenstity.. after that we let up.. that team was sad! we should of won 80 to 55! cant score 70 against the second to worst team in basketball? come on.. we scored 5.5 below our avg against a sad team!

The problem with the offense, as I see it, is that Adam and Williamson miss too many low post shots. They have a hard time finishing. That is where we miss Mike Williams. John gives very good effort all the time, but just misses alot of shots. Adam does too. Until we solve the low post scoring issues, this will be a long season. I see improvement on the perimeter, but still defenses lapses on perimeter defense. Larry Davis is improving quickly.......and I hope it continues.

Opening Statement
"I wasn't happy at all with our effort tonight. I thought it was probably the worst game we played. I commend the other team. They had more assists then turnovers, which they don't average. They shot a higher percentage from the field then they have in previous games. We shot 46%, which they were giving up 53%. Bright spot was Larry Davis' performance, and Darnell Wilks continues to improve."
On Veteran Play
"I'm not happy with my veterans, their lack of leadership, effort, and commitment level to this program. When I say veterans, I talk about four guys who played one year each. It is painfully obvious that we don't have a guy who has been here for three years. We'll get that, but it won't happen this year. We don't have anyone who has been here more than a year. Our leadership needs to change. If our fate is going to change this year, we're going to have to have some guys step up and show up every day."

I was at the game and I agree completely with Mick. I love the potential of the frosh but the second year guys go thru the motion except Gentry who at least plays hard on both ends (with little result but he plays hard). Vaughn has to make this his team. He is the star, and the leader on the floor. This team needs a floor leader badly. Someone who is an extension of the coach.

Did Mick mention any reason why Mitchell did not play? Injury or a coaches decision? I did see him on the bench and he did dress but never took his warmup off. Also, I would like to see Belton get more time.

As soon as Belton and Mitchell learn something in practice they will not be on the bench anymore. You play like you practice as the saying goes.

Most of the Bearcats must be practicing poorly then, because that's how they have been playing.

If you heard Adam H.'s comments after the game you would know that there are practice issues. Larry Davis looked good and Mick commented on how he absorbs everything in practice. This team needs a leader from among the players and in my opinion it should be Vaughn. He is the "star" of the team and needs to push the players to be Bearcats. Every good team has a leader in the locker room beyond the coach.
