remember jason bennett was going to be a bearcat before huggins left so there might be some interest there and also abdul herrera was at one time a bearcat but left because of personal reasons, both would be great additions... bennett isnt very athletic at all and is very raw on the offensive end but a good defender with upside, herrera is not a great defender but a good shot blocker and a little more polished on the offensive end, i can definitely see bennett in a bearcat uniform and i dont see herrera coming back so heres a look at the 08 team... and from the looks of it we will be in the tournament easily.

PG- Vaughn, Davis, Wright
SG - Bishop, Mitchell
SF- Wilks, Belton
PF- Williams, Gates, Belton
C- McClain, Bennett

Thanks for the info. Maybe there is a diamond in the rough among these trees.

UC isn't listed for any of them (yet) but most are wide open on their college possibilities.

I believe Mick described Herrera's departure as "addition by subtraction", so no, I don't see him coming back either.

Exactly. Herrera showed absolutely no potential during his time here.

Mick is not recruiting JUCO's, this is an inappropriate thread for the UCF basketball forum, it should be in the general section.

How do YOU know who Mick is or isn't recruiting?

A JC player could be a possibility as there are few high major high school kids left on the board, but that being said a few usually emerge in the spring out of nowhere. A good example in the recent past is Patrick Beverley. But I can easily see Mick holding 2 scholarships for 2009 especially with the talent in that class and the possibility of Mike Williams getting an extra year of eligibility.

Mick has said time and time again he is going to build the team with 4 year players, he will not be recruiting JUCO's, he recruited the present guys only because he had to field a team last year.

None of the guys on this list will be Bearcats next season.

It wouldn't suprise me to see Herrera go to KState. Didn't Martin recruit him at Cincinnati initially?

I'm sure Mick is planning on building the team with 4 year players. I don't think that precludes him from signing a JC player though.

Those of us in the Chicago area knew about Beverley. I touted him to the UC staff in 2005-06 but their (recruiting) hands were tied by the awkwardness of their situation.

I'd suggest that every one of your nuggets be moved the the General Forum for the same reason.

Every single one.

This list came from Hoopmasters, not me. They have not posted list of G yet.

UC has a very speedy guard (Cashmere Wright) already signed for next year.

I would prefer not to take another JUCO guard. They have a very hard time adjusting.

In a couple more seasons Vaughn will be a senior, Mitchell-Wilks-Davis-Bishop-McClain-Belton will be juniors and all this silly concern about this stuff will start to go away. Gates and Wright will be sophomores, etc.

Time will heal all wounds.

No guarantees of any of that. And it may not be a good thing, have to wait and see.

I think they still need another big man from next year's class and then save 2 schollys for '09. I don't think getting a top JUCO big man from next years class is such a bad idea. Plus it would give them another junior with Vaughn and potentially Williams and freeing up 2-3 schollys for '10.

From HS or Prep School ranks (per Rivals FREE article), clipped:

Who is left? Every year after the early signing period, college coaches ask this question: "Where can I find a big man?"

Edgar Garibay is one of the names to watch for those in need of a big man. The hottest name right now might be Ater Majok, a bouncy big man now at Heat Basketball Academy in Martinsville, Va. The 6-foot-10 forward is from Sudan via Australia. He could very well be the most sought after player at his position right now. Nearly every high-major school looking for a post player has contacted his coach, Jason Niblett.

Other names of note at the big man spot include: Corey Smith (Pleasant Grove, Ala.), L.A. Pomlee (Davenport, Iowa), Edgar Garibay (Compton, Calif.), Aziz N'Diaye (Chicago), Krystopher Faber (Los Angeles), Jarrod Jones and Maurice Sutton (Largo, Md.)

I had seen that article too, Aziz N'diaye is a four star recruit listed at 7'1 - 230 lbs we are not listed but it seems as though there are some quality guys left. I think Georgetown is on his list. Bearcatlair is also reporting that we have offered a center but I don't have access to the premium content, so I can't get a name.

I wouldn't place much stock into who's listed or who's offered. If he's unsigned, he's fair game.
