Anthony McClain RUMOR! (please note rumor)

I have been hearing from some sources close to the situation that McClain has made up his mind and is coming to UC. DO NOT take this for gospel because it is just a rumor... but one that I believe to have some credibility. Only time will tell if this is true but it can not be a bad thing IMO. I feel good about source but again nothing official...... yet. Not sure when this will be made official but from what I know it is a done deal. I havent heard if he is going to make a visit to UC or UCONN that might change his mind.

Read at another forum that McClain is not coming this weekend and is instead going to take the ACT. Does this still fall in line with your information?

yeah, "done deal" always works out (Donovan to UK?), prepare to be disappointed on McClain Cats fans, we should know on Thabeet by the end of this week or early next, would be very surprised if he doesn't declare

Haha yeah he is taking the ACT's this weekend. I am confident in the information, plus the guy from UCONN that was recruiting him took another job. Done Deal, well I dont want to say that, that is why i said words like rumor A LOT. Take it for what you want, but I will have more information soon. I said before I thought there was a 55% chance we get him, 2 days later I am saying it is 95% IMO. I like what I hear... alot

I agree with the great one. I have heard that he has verballed to Mick. Nothing is ever a "Done Deal" until he signs, but I am feeling good.

I didn't know that the guy at UConn recruiting him left. I think it comes down to playing time. He has always said he wants playing time and the Cats give him a chance to play 30-35 minutes a game. Even with Thabeet gone UConn can't make that promise - althought Calhoun probably has.

Thanks for the info great1. Obviously nothing is a lock, but any word shows optimisim at least. Everyone asks for updates and then some will rip on them when they get them.

I really think McClain to UC is now a mere formality and the visit is just a chance to meet some current players and see the campus a bit.

Also don't be surprised to see some other visitors in the coming weeks and a possible string of commits for 2008.

I found it interesting in the latest update on Paul Williams - '08 2G out of Michigan - BearcatLair labeled him as Cincinnati recruit Paul Williams. Is this true or a ploy by the Lair to subscribe to their site? What's his status?

Paul is still looking at a handful of schools and Cincy is definitely right at the top of the list with one other school. Cincy has been on him hard a while so yes he is a Cincinnati recruit.

IKnow, can you shed any further light on who will be visiting or the string of '08 commits. I have a reliable source telling me that Gates has given a silent verbal to Mick but that his mom does not like the group he is hanging with and wants him to go away to school. I have heard that Indiana is making a hard charge at him, but at this point, he is still coming to UC.

I think some of Gates up and down performances have soured a few schools on him and from what I know Gates' stepdad has been running the recruitment. I haven't heard him being a silent verbal but I'd be shocked if he ended up anywhere aside from UC.

Word on the street is that another wing player will be on campus this coming weekend but I can't reveal his name at this time as it is still sensitive. Before the end of the month expect another guard to be on campus for a visit also.

I know that they happen and all of that, but I hate silent verbals. A verbal is bad enough since they don't hold any level of commitment, but a silent verbal is bad as well. I guess it allows you to keep recruiting kids at his position.

IKMTY - hopefully that someone is Willy Warren or someone like that. But, I don't know if UC has a horse in that race.

Do you mean Alvin Mitchell, I don't know who Williams is. No, Henry and Mitchell have not turned in their LOI but will by early next week. I don't see any reason for concern, just a matter of time.

As far as I know it is NOT Willie Warren who will be visiting and I am still working on finding out more concerning the possible visit. As everyone knows things can change with recruits at the drop of a hat. Willie has re-opened his recruitment and will likely take his visits and take his time on selecting a school. But with his outstanding performance at the Easter Classic in Vegas last weekend expect to see more schools come calling.

What about the news that McClain is skipping his visit to campus this weekend to take the ACT? How do we read that, good or bad? I would think on the surface it is bad news unless he is rescheduling the visit or pushing his UCONN visit back. I would assume the top two schools mentioned in the most recent Rivals article are UC and UCONN, but I don't subscribe so I didn't get to read the entire article.

He had to take the test so he can get a qualifying score anyway and this is the only weekend it's offered this month. The test is given on a Saturday morning so he could still make a Saturday night/Sunday visit. Things have been so scattered with this that it could be a ploy to say he won't be visiting when he actually shows up anyway.

I said he would commit two days ago when i got my information and it will prove true. I started this as a rumor, inside information, and I think people enjoyed knowing it. Was it fact, no, but not all rumors are non sense. I agree with people who said if there is some truth behind it, fine, but dont just stir things up just to do it. Read the enqurier if you want just the facts, I like the inside information and I believe that people like it when I can provide it.
