Does anyone else find it odd that this information is released in Georgetown, KY before released in our home town?
Can we get some further info on this?

I know a significant increase in luxury box revenue would be welcome, but if you're going to spend $50-100 million on Nippert can't they get more then an additional 5,000 or so seats. And if they go to a more reasonable 21" seat with a back, it's even less than that.

I agree. From that conceptual drawing, simply adding a few more rows to the entire top deck would get us to 45-50K.
For some reason this all seems fishy. Anyone else agree?

The drawing looks like more than just 5,000 more seats.

Odd to say the least. Why would this ever be published in a Georgetown Ky newspaper? Why would they care? Also, I don't see how they intend to fund this. No bucks, no buck rogers.

They look slick as ****. But I also question why the Post or Enquirer didn't write about this, especially since the plans were done 10 months ago.
No mention of a indoor practice facility, a gutted 5/3 arena might work.

Post is out of business, and Enquirer receives "advice" from UC "advisors."

Just emailed Bill Koch to see if he could give us some extra info on it.

There was a post about this a number of months ago... on this site, but at the time it did not mention anything about Nippert nor was there a news paper article. The renderings of the new arena on trahan's website ( http://www.trahanarchitects.com/ ) are more than just slick. Click on the "featured architecture" link and then the "sports experience" link. First 4 are UC.
The arena is different from the one on lance's Blog... I like it better but I guess we will see.

Some hate Bill because of this and that, but I will tell you that the man gets info out there quick. He has more than impressed after he took over for Josh.

That probably explains why it wasn't in the 'nati papers; not a lot of 'news' there. Doesn't sound like too much is going to happen in the near future in regards to this.

No money about sums it up. I do not see a new arena on the horizon until 5/3rd is sold out for the season as 16,000 seats are not needed if you cannot fill 13,176.

IMO...the only way UC will sign up to renovate Nippert and replace 5/3 sooner rather than later is for some big time corporate donors to sign up for the majority of the cost. Until then, Varsity Village must be paid off first.

On this, you and I agree. The drawings are real purty though.
