View Full Version : Coach Cronin may be right about the mid-majors

From an article whose link is now on the main BN site:
"When the guys sit up there on [ESPN's] College Game Night and talk about these mid-major teams being just as good as a Syracuse or a West Virginia last year, I don't believe it,'' Cronin said. "Maybe in a one-game shot, maybe. But if you put them in this league and make them play 18 games, they wouldn't even be on the bubble some of those teams.''
I tend to agree. I think a lot of the so-called high mid-majors would find life very difficult in the top leagues.

That's why they often struggle versus decent High Major (BCS school) teams in NCAA play.

XU holds W-ing record over UC (most of) the past couple of decades.
I respect them. Enjoying W-ing over them. But X is a heckuva program.

You people still in Cincy need to thank the College BBall Gods every day. You are blessed.
Here in St. Louis, about all there is to get excited about is Majerus getting in a fight with the Archbishop. There are no decent teams anywhere close.

The A-10 is looking better than ever, I'd expect it to be quite good in about five years.

The A-10 is definitely having an special year. I would expect it to resume its regularly scheduled programming.

UC would beat Xavier the way the freshman have developed... X took us lightly the way we used to take them lightly.. Now way X beats us at 5th 3rd next year with the monster front court and talented backcourt UC will have next year.. Iw ould even say it won't be close...

Except for Butler...the last 10 BCS schools they've played, they've won. All about consistency.

While I am a huge Bearcat fan, I have to admit that Xavier is definitely not a mid-major program. Look at some of their wins this year. They have destroyed some teams from the Big Ten, and Southeastern conference. They are ranked 15th. I don't find it necessary to slam them to feel better about UC.

I'm also here in St. Louis, and, you're right. This is Basketball ****. Come to think of it, until Mizzou's football team had a resurgence this year, it's pretty much Football ****, too.

I think XU at their best is a top 10 team this season. I think it's the best team I've ever seen at XU. The way they manhandled good teams is pretty impressive.
