It is a cool article on how impressed they are with Yancy. It is a fun read.

Assuming we don't get anymore Impact freshman for next year, and Biggie doesn't develop as quickly as we would like. How likely is it for both Mike Williams and Yancy to start?

Cashmere Wright
Deonta Vaughn
Rashad Bishop
Mike Williams
Yancy Gates / Biggie

Also for what its worth. Rivals has Deonta as the #20 rated SG in the country.

Here is a window into college basketball recruiting -

"That's the unusual part," Coach Cronin told me. "A lot of guys have size and strength, but they don't have quick feet, agility, and great hands. Yancy's blessed to have those attributes - he could play tight end in the NFL. Put him on a scale right now and I'd say he's between 260 and 270 pounds. Weight training is going to keep him around 260 but make him much stronger, drop his body fat, change his body composition, and make him even more explosive and athletic than he already is. It's going to be very important for him to be able to commit himself right away in the off-season to make sure he's ready to roll by November."

Now you know what every college coach is looking for in his PF.

I was under the impression that Biggie would be able to start but right now I would say that I would start Yancy and Mike Williams. Dont play a center and play two PF. I would have Belton and Biggie get some serious time of coarse.

It seems like the bst font court since Martin's senior year... I really think Belton will develop into enough of a presence that Yancy will be able to get into foul trouble and we will still be able to get rebounds... I still think McClain is hurt and that is why he has not played as much as we would've hoped.. You cannot teach 7 foot.. I heard Mick say as much on 1530 before the Louisville game...

Gates is the best Cincy HS big man (post player) since LaSalle Thompson.

if McClain is hurt, then by next year hopefully he is 100%, and in the weight room getting stronger. So next year them 7 feet will be strong enough to endure the college game and level of play in confrence.
Yancy will be too good not to start, if Belton Works on his Shot and Mike Williams is as good as everybody implies, our roster is looking real strong next year. Add a new big man and keep building.

It seems to me, that very few coaches think in terms of 5 players.

Rather, it is the rotation that is how you gauge a team.

With the rotation in mind - I think it is easier to see next year's strengths and weaknesses.

PG - Vaughn/Wright (I anticipate Vaughn begins the season and Wright gets more minutes at the point as the season progresses - a la K-Satt)
SG - Vaughn/Davis (though it seems like Davis may not be developing very fast - could Mitchell or Wilkes slide over to the 2 spot?)
SF - Bishop/Mitchell/Wilkes
PF - Williams/Gates/Belton
C - Biggie

I think a JUCO point guard would be a good pick up. He would graduate the same year as Vaugh and when Wright has 2 more years. Could get a top 4-year point guard at that time.

Same with a C. I doubt we can find a quality hs player in the spring.

How difficult is it for a 4 to play at the 5? It seems that K-Mart, Fletcher, and Tate were able to rotate in an interchangeable way - still they were all seniors with a lot more experience than we will have next year.
