I heard Lance's show yesterday when Walt McBride (Withrow/Yancy's coach) said that he has heard the B.J. Mullens will decommit and follow Yancy to UC. I thought there was 0% chance of this being true, but stranger things have happened. To make an arguement against the logically answer of he will not leave OSU.
1. He would be behind Kofus and would have to fight to get the ball and attention. He would be the 3rd 7 footer in as many years and might get lost in the mix.
2. Yancy plays with him! They are good friends and would love to play together, it was suppose to be why Yancy was looking so hard at OSU, play local and stay together.
3. He would be the focus of our team and would get 4 years with a BE school.
4. It has happened before, i.e. Butler from UC to OSU. Rumor has it he has such a big UC fan that he even has a tatoo to prove that, what took him away? He has a friend that decided to go to OSU and he wanted to play together.

This is the arguements that I have heard and came up with, I think the rumor is just that a rumor, but I dont think it is completly abserd. Oh and dont give me that McClain doesnt need to see this because he want to be the #1 big guy. ALso is it true that Danny Mac is now playing AAU with Gates and Mullens? I do not think McBride would say anything over the air waves if he didnt think it had some credibility.

Is there any kind of link that states he is even considering this?? I consider this a very long shot but weirder things have happen and they deserve one for taking Butler from us

It wouldn't surprise me if Gates tried to get Mullens to UC, but I doubt if he would be successful.
Mullens verballed to OSU before he even played a HS game. He attends all their games. Apparently he told his dying stepfather or grandfather or someone that he would respect their dying wish and go to OSU.

I know this is a rumor but if it were true it would put UC in a race for top 5 recruiting classes in 08' since we have a fairly high number of scholarships to give next year. Gates, Wilkes, McMullen...?

I know...cart before the horse. It's only a rumor... Anything can happen... Don't get your hopes up...

That's a major faux pas by their coach if there is nothing to warrant him saying that. Let's see if it gets substantiated by another source.

I agree we need to wait before we get too excited this is still a long shot! I just don't think McBride would say it without hearing something from Yancy. He may have gotten word the BJ would consider it and not that it was going to happen. I can only see this as good news for UC, if we do not get him, o well but if we do we just got the biggest recruit sense.....

Revenge for Jamar Butler! Certainly would be sweet, all OSU fans would be saying Whatsa Matta.

Audio links are on the left of Lance's Blog Page (http://www.wcky.com/pages/lancesBlog.html), look for Walt McBride.

This is not going to happen. He committed to OSU as an 8th grader. That means that he really wanted to go there. This is a Lance ratings ploy.
1. He would be behind Kofus and would have to fight to get the ball and attention. He would be the 3rd 7 footer in as many years and might get lost in the mix.
- Kofus plays the four and is just as much of an outside shooter than in. Mullens is more of a post player from what I understand. He is a top 10 player in the country and will most likely start over Lauderdale or anyone else that the Bucks have.

3. He would be the focus of our team and would get 4 years with a BE school.
- He will compete for the ball at UC as much as OSU if the recruiting class goes as hoped. And he won't have 4 years anywhere. I don't think the BE has much of a draw over the Big10.

I am not going to say it won't happen since it has happened in the past, but I would put the odds at very small.

Do you think Lance asked McBride to say this? The coach obviously heard something, it may have been said just in jest and McBride needs to understand with his position things may be better left unsaid. I do not think it will happen, love it would but you can not bang on Lance for this.

I had thought that McAllister said it so I must have read wrong. You are probably right then that Lance had nothign to do with it, but I don't see how it will happen. Hopefully I am wrong here. I will admit that if this was anywhere but on Lances show I would take it with more thought. I enjoy his show, but just think that he goes out there too much.

I hope I am wrong, but who knows. Go Cats!

[QUOTE=Thegreatone;1212]I heard Lance's show yesterday when Walt McBride (Withrow/Yancy's coach) said that he has heard the B.J. Mullens will decommit and follow Yancy to UC.

After listening to the audio I would have to say "will decommit" are pretty strong words. McBride said "maybe" and sounded like he did not want people to put much stock into what he was saying about Mullens.

The fact that he mentioned it is worth noting what a guy like Gates can do for recruiting though. I hope Gates spreads the word in AAU.

That would be simply awesome! And it would make up for not signing McClain if we don't.

Shaun, Jamar Butler committed to UC very young, always wanted to go to UC, he inked his body with the Bearcat logo, it can happen and if Yancy is a very persuasive guy, it may be more likely than not likely, just as Terwilliger swayed Butler.
