I believe John owes me a beer:
John,
I'll take the bet. I appreciate the good nature of your posting.
Just know that I will be rooting for you to win and will take no pleasure if
I am right, though I will enjoy the beer and getting to know you - a fellow
Cat fan!

Darryl,
Thanks for the response. Please do mark it down and if I am wrong the
beverages - only Darryl folks as he was the first to challenge - is on
me. I never been to the Holy Grail so that may be a good spot. I am
not going anywhere so feel free to remind me next year and laugh in my
face as you down a few. However, what was Kenyon Martin ranked? How
about Steve Logan? What about Van Exel? We could go on and on. In
rare exceptions you find a "stud" recruit - that should be in the NBA.
In other cases rankings don't mean that much compared with other
players. It comes down to heart and effort at that point. A lot of
rankings are determined by how many AAU teams and tournaments kids have
played - exposure. You can look at the athletic players we have even
now. They will have a year of D1 experience. Despite how some are
trying to portray them as terrible they are not. I see the potential
and this team will still get stronger this year. I think we all seen
them begin to "gel" some. Add in another few big bodies with talent and
a few more to relieve them when exhausted and my prediction will come to
fruition. Now, are you willing to bet the same? John

John,
This is a pretty bold statement and I will mark your words -
"These same players combined with the
new recruits and those who have to sit out this year will make next
year's team top 25. Maybe not at first but mark my words they will be a
top 25 team next year."
I'm still trying to figure out how a team that is not top 25 makes it to
the
top 25, when its recruit class is not in the top 25 and the individual
recruits are not ranked in the top-25 program category (According to Bob
Gibson via Tom Gray).
So despite all the evidence - we will miraculously make the top 25. I
guess
it is the Christmas season and if a virgin can have a baby; UC basketball
can be in the top 25 next year.
Go Cats!

btw - it is this wide eyed optimism with only platitudes for support that
erodes the discussion on this forum, from my perspective; because it only
invites fact based refutation which some see as doom and gloom and others
find a downer.

I have been following the posts on this topic. Many of you have been
providing some good input. Others have just been being negative because
that is what they do - adding no value. I am not living in
"pleasantville" when I state the following:
This team and program will be fine and will rebound sooner rather than
later. The wins this year have been great. We all knew there would be
losses. Losing to the #4 ranked team with a team just put together
starting in March is no surprise. These same players combined with the
new recruits and those who have to sit out this year will make next
year's team top 25. Maybe not at first but mark my words they will be a
top 25 team next year. We have Williams, Adam H., the current JUCOs,
Vaughn, and new freshmen. That is a formidable team - at least top 25
with Mick coaching. He will bring in more the following year. I am not
worried about replacing the current JUCOs when they're complete
eligibility after next year. Mick will get more players. Probably a
combination of a couple JUCOs with a freshman class. If the situation is
that bleak to a few where the only thing they can do is put out a
negative one or two liner no matter the topic, do us and yourself a
favor in move on. Really. I am not stating that people cannot have a
point-of-view that is different but please allow for good discussion
around the stance. I have begun to ignore the posts but read them
sometimes with the hope that a meaningful post will be presented. We
all know the state of the program right now. However, it is not even
close to being as bad as it could have been or as bad as many felt it
would be. 7-3 with a win over X was not expected before Mick at this
point. Looking at what is here in the program right now and what is
coming next year shows that we are coming back strong. The "sky is not
falling." John
