Unbelievable, this is from Lance McCalister's Blog:

Things I'm told
UC President Nancy Zimpher was in the D.C. airport last night and ran into Anthony McClain. After calling AD Mike Thomas to see if it was ok, she talked to McClain, introducing herself and saying, "Welcome to UC"

I would say that Zimpher knows a little about basketball if she was able to recognize McClain in an airport...glad to hear that she said hello....If I were a college player I would think that was pretty cool...

Perhaps a PR move to win some fans, now that the coaching situation has settled? That, and the results of said "settling" are now starting to come in terms of talented kids once again seeing Cincinnati as a good destination for quality coaching and high exposure basketball.

I find it highly unlikely that a president of a university that is (publicly) focused on academics knew by sight what a potential athletic recruit looked like in an airport. Of course, the 6'10" factor may have played in there..... :D

WOW! If not for Dr. Z he might have been a Georgetown Hoya. He must have been quite impressed that the President of the University would greet him like that!
