View Full Version : Ward Replacement?

Heard from a friend that Marc Maggard from Roundball Recruiting is suggesting that UC will have an announcement in the coming days of another guard with skills to replace Ward.
Take it for what it's worth. My friend is a UK fan but he is not a UC hater and keeps me up to date when he reads something regarding the Bearcats.

Got the actual quote from Maggard:
Actually, Cincy has another guard coming in instead....a guard with skills....look for announcement in a few days.
Then he said he was told in confidence and could not reveal the name. Anybody got a clue as to who this could be?

I probably shouldn't bring it up, and yes I know he still is facing a court date, but could it be Bud Mackey?
UC is listed as High Interest for Macky.

I heard Mackey dropped out of school. Not sure how true that is.
My guess is the Rivals people have a good idea and either are holding it, or only sharing with premium members. Either way, considering they have not announced any of the other signings, which is rare for them to do, tells me they expect something soon.

Enough with the Mackey talk. Its not Mackey.
Maggard is getting his info from Rivals. If you want to cruise that info you will have to pay or at least take a trial run. In my opinion the info has been pretty accurate, although you can't ever be completely accurate given the fact that we are talking about HS kids making decisions.
The football info has been good and there is a lot more then there has ever been before.
Anyway, might as well at least give credit where credit is due. Especially considering Maggard is not completely correct in what he posted BTW.

Just taking a stab in the dark, as I'm not a member of any of these sites. I look forward to see who, if anyone, signs.

Nope, Marquette will not allow him to go to a Big East school.

Bobby Maze or Chris Turner? There's been some chatter on this board about them as they are listed on Scout as having some interest. Turner is Scout's 27th rated SG and they have him as a prolific scorer. Three star...

I've heard Maze as well, he's a JUCO pg that is being recruited by Kentucky, USC, UC, and a few others.

Nope, Marquette will not allow him to go to a Big East school.
that does not mean he can't come here just means uc can't give him a scholly for a year just like when trevor anderson transferred from uc to msu.
Uc did not release him but he went there anyway.
I doubt it is him though dont see a freshman paying his own way 1st year...

Someone on ncaa.bbs is reporting that 6'4" SG, and former UC recruit from Ft. Wayne, Indiana (and former Indiana signee who decommitted) was granted his release from his LOI to Oregon State. He is a combo guard and deadly long range shooter.
I think this is potentially the "mystery" recruit.

Is there any truth to this actually happening? I mean, we hear things all the time about recruits, but is anyone willing to say, "This is alomost definately going to happen." I'm just asking before I begin to get a little hopeful.

Mick is saving the last scholarship for Tyreke, who has the same chance of signing with UC as all of the other guys who are transfering that have been mentioned on this board.

Ralph has had some good posts in the past, as he has some "sources" that are close to the program. He has definitely not been right on many occasions, but at least he spurs some dialogue on possible recruits that MC is looking at. However, his constant hatred of BH is as tiresome as those who post their constant hatred of MC. Enough already with BH bashing and the endless referrences to Tyreke Evans. The only one who finds this amusing is Ralph. It's TYREE and I find it amusing - not the posts, the reactions.

It isn't Tyree, it's Tyreke. Either way, neither one of them have any chance of coming to UC. He has probably stated that Mick is recruiting Tyreke over 20 times. The joke is old.

What is old is that as soon as someone announces they are going to transfer someone starts a link that Mick should recruit them. It is like posters think Mick has 32 scholarships to offer to guys.

I agree, but at least they are trying to be serious. A lot of times a player transfers and has something to do with UC.

He is. Tyree is going to Maryland.
Tyreke was the #1 player in the '08 class. Ralph always brings his name up as a joke when people bring up random transfers and pipe dream players.

I wouldn't mind Bobby Maze. I believe U.C. recruited him right out of high school. He has talent and is a true point. Him and Cashmere would make a good 1-2 punch there. I think he averaged around 20 ppg in juco. It would also give us a junior class of 3 and balance things out considerably.

I thought Bobby Maze had already committed to Maryland. I know his name got mentioned in another thread but I thought he signed.

Tyreke is a Memphis commit and Ralph's comments are funny as **** (sometimes excessive but funny).
Tyree is a former Bearcat commit and current Maryland commit.
Ralph knows WHO he is talking about, just making fun of all of those that just bring up all the random "posssible UC recruits" (I'm sure I've done it)

Part of the fun of this is the speculation of it all. Everyone is not "in the know" and we are all like kids at Christmas waiting to see what is in the next package. We just shake it and guess first.

Is Jones that much better than Ward or does Jones fit into the system better? They're both 3 stars.
I thought Maze initially had grade problems getting into Oklahoma.

Maze committed to Maryland but they dropped him after they signed Tyree EvansBut they are saying that Tyreke may change his mind about Memphis because all of last year's starters are possibly leaving. Those who know these things say that Maryland has the inside shot on getting Tyreke and that if they do, they'll drop Tyree, who will then become a Bearcat!
You just have to keep your ear to the ground. :D

Like I said if I had my druthers I'd like to see another point guard and Maze fits that bill. I like Jones too, but Maze is a scoring point guard and we need offensive help. If I remember correctly he was a pretty good defensive player as well. Tyree Evans is a great athlete and can shot the rock but we need a point.
