Anyone make it to the Bearcat Bowl. It looks like Grutza was the QB of choice yesterday. The Red team won 20-0.

I think whoever did the attendance count had double vision. It looked more like 2500 - 3000 fans showed up. Still a nice crowd compared to the previous years. It appeared they really marketed the "Bearcat Bowl" heavily with lots of tailgate activities

I said a week or two ago to not count out Grutza. I know a lot of folks were down on him due to his performance under Dantonio, but I love the Nakamura quote:
"I told people before that this is the type of system that Dustin Grutza played in during high school," Nakamura said. "People want to say certain things about him, but I'm like, 'Hey, this kid played in a spread offense. He knows how to run this.' He's a leader, and he's got experience. Once he gets going, he's a hot player."
I wonder if he read my earlier post?
As I said though, if Mauk beats out Grutza, the QB position should be VERY solid because I think Grutza is solid in this kind of system. I also knwo there are those who favor Carey, but I cannot comment on that because I have never seen him play against BEast competition and I know many purple people are biased. :D

I was there and I estimated about 5,000 people...so when I saw the newspaper report that UC estimated around 5k I thought that was good. The DVD gift was nice for season ticket holders...since I had the Rutgers game on my DVR but it got erased...I don't think UC Football has had this type of pre-season buzz in a long time!
Can't wait for the season to get here! Hope to see more of you join the die hard fans tailgate on Daniels (between Jefferson and Short Vine)...we were there on Saturday!
GO BEARCATS!

I estimated the crowd at somewhere between 3000 - 4000. It seemed like alot more if you were sitting on the pressbox side, which felt pretty crowded. They had most the seats roped off, forcing people into the midfield sections. I'd bet there were more people than at the SF game last yr. It was the best crowd for a spring game I've ever seen.
Grutza was far and away the best qb -- no way either of these two will beat him out, especially Pike who isn't nearly mobile enough for this system. DG looked much improved. I have to question if Mauk can come back fully healthy and as good as before. I'd bet on DG starting.
