Here's a link with all of the implicated schools in basketaball and football that has their scholarship limits for next year. Tennessee will only have 12 but I think they'll have room after dismissing Ramar Smith and the other player.

Did they just lose one scholarship? If so, I don't think it will affect Maze

Coach Pearl also booted Duke Cruze off the team.

A little OT, but won't this just kill Memphis, USC, etc. in the future? So many of their players seem 'one and done', thus no one graduating and hurting their graduation scores.

Great question/point. I would think it would if I understand the rules correctly. I think it's bogus that a school gets penalized for having a player go pro early. That doesn't mean they did a poor job educating him, the kid most likey made a decision based on money and his future. Is it going to get to the point where certain schools can't even look at recruiting a kid b/c he's too good to play 4 years?

When academic people like Myles Brand get power in sport decisions sports will suffer. The two and done deal coming up is bad for college basketball also. Players that are good enough to play in the pro's should be allowed to play and not have to go to college for two years. It's great for the NBA because the NBA doesn't have to pay them while they get experience. It's bad for college basketball because the top teams will have a pro player for two years instead of just one. It's going to be the rich get richer. If I'm a coach and can get a player who should be in the pro's and get him for 2 years I'm not going to worry about hurting my APR.

He doesn't necessarily hurt your APR if he's in good academic standing and on track to graduate at the time he leaves school.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Wipe the tears from my eyes I laughing so hard.

Many of these players list their major as 'undecided'. How can you be on track to graduate after 1-2 years without a major?

Also, do they have to complete the current semester/quarter if the season ends?

A beter use of the APR:

Score >925 13 scholarships(B-ball), if a University maintain APR greater than 975 four six years and get an extra scolarship (can only be used once every six years)

Score 850-975 1 less scholarship than normally allotted UNTIL the APR reaches at or above 925 for an entire academic year.

Score 775-850 2 less scholarships than normally allotted UNTIL the APR is to reach the next level.

This can continue reduce scholarships every 75 points on APR

The only way my proposal even works or is agreeable is that you buy into the theorey that the scholarship is fair and equal compensation to the players....another can of worms:)

What's a matter, BillyDonger? Afraid Mick might get a couple of NBA players for a couple of years and win it all? :D

But does he have to graduate in a certain time period? Was Greg Odom on track to graduate?

Also, I would think that tO$U could be in danger over the next couple of years if players keep leaving early. But as long as they are in "good academic standing", whatever that means.

Most students are mostly taking their core courses the first couple years anyway, so they're probably still on track credit-hour wise to graduate on time.

Part of the issue with the APR is it takes time to bring your score back up, which is why UC wasnt penalized again this year, they've made substantial improvement.

He doesn't have graduate within a certain time period if he leaves in good standing and on track to graduate at that point. Oddly enough if you stay in school for all 4 years, you only have 5 to graduate before it counts against the school. That's my assessment on how the rules are drawn up. I could be wrong.
