We heard about a week ago on this board to expect some dominos to fall in the form of more 08' recruits in the coming days or weeks. Is there any more word on how that is going and who that is/was. I don't have any super secret sources other than Bearcat News to find out:confused:

From what I can find:
2008 Commitments (Verbal Only)
1. Yancy Gates
2. Darnell Wilkes - 6-8, SF
UC is on the top of his list. He also had Auburn. Texas, Tennessee & Memphis on his list. Those are some decent programs so I would like to believe he should have a shot to contribute at UC early in his career.
2008 Players Considering (Only if UC is top 2)
1. Kema Walker - 5-11 PG
He has Georgetown as 2 and Memphis as 3 on his list.
2. Thomas Manzano - 6-3 SG
Oklahoma St is #2 on his list and St. John's is #3. Not being recruited by any big time program so this is a concern in my book.
This info is from a recruiting website. IMO, the top 2 seem pretty good. Hopefully Mick can finish strong with this class.

Forgive my pessimism Krik, but all the schools listed short of St Johns has been better than UC every year since these kids were in Junior High. I think that will change in the near future. If recruiting is truly about relationships, Mick will land who we need.

Wilks committed to UC several months ago. The other 2 are possible I think others are higher on the UC list. See Recruiting section of BN for names.
Remember, those with 4 or 5 Interest level in UC are more likely.

I am excited about Wilks from what little I've heard. In an interview not long ago he said he was 6'9 -- someone who should know said he was between 6'8 and 6'9, so he's apparently at least 6'8. His coach said he had a 43" vertical! If that's even remotely close, that's a fantastic vertical for a kid that tall. Even Kenyon didn't have a 43" vertical. He's supposed to be a great athlete with ball handling and perimeter skills who's got a great upside. I heard he outplayed a 5 star recruit recently. Word is, Mick got in on him before alot of people caught on.

UC is no longer recruiting Thomas Manzano so you can take him off the list and he also has some serious grade issues despite now being at Notre Dame Prep in MA. The list of 2008 recruits that UC is high on and who are high on UC would include these guys:
Dee Bost
Courtney Fortson
Paul Williams
Dennis Harris
J'Mison Morgan
Others to consider from past contact are Teondre Williams, Dequan Jones, Tony Woods, Kemba Walker, Jordan Theodore.

Excellent, and what about BJ Mullins who Withrow coach Walt McBride said may change his mind and follow his buddy Yancy to UC?

I know Mullens and Yancy are good friends but he is also pretty tight with the other OSU 2008 commits. It would be highly doubtful that he'd switch and come to UC. I have heard that rumor floating around but that's all it is, a rumor.

The is nice to talk about, Mullens to UC. That all though, this is not a issue worth talking about until we hear something that is not just speculation. If we hear something from an AAU coach, father, Yancy, or ofcoarse BJ then we can start talking again. I like talking about rumor but I dont see this one turning into anything. Lets concentrate on PG's and SG's. In the BE you need two things, a good PG and a monster C.

Our board shows interest level 4 for Morgan. Is that pretty accurate? Are any of these guys close to giving a verbal or are most of them waiting? Can anyone explain to us what the interest levels mean in terms of likelihood?
Interest level (5) 75% chance? Likely us but maybe another school still in the hunt?
Interest level (4) 50% chance? Down to a few schools but we are getting good vibes?
Interest level (3) 33% chance? We are in the running but still have some selling to do?
Interest level (2) 20% chance? We are listed in the schools that have contacted but recruit has said nothing about who he favors?
Interest level (1) 10% chance? We are interested but the recruit probably isn't?
Just reading about some of these guys on the recruiting sites listed as interest level 4 I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling but some of you have insider info so I'm just trying to get a feel for what these interest levels mean. I won't hold you to it I promise;)

Its as accurate as it can be given my sources and the public articles.

5 means most likely. 1 means least likely.
Any further narrowing of those numbers are useless because recruiting changes every day.
If Mick Cronin was running the site, the Interest Level could go up and down every day based on the last conversation he had with the player. (FYI - Cronin does not run the site.)

When I first heard that rumor over a month ago, I was intrigued. Some things made sense at the time, but I think now it is not likely that Mullins de-commits.

Mike is being humble; his rating (interest) numbers are the best around. In my experience, if a player goes up to 5, UC has a GREAT chance to land him. And to 4 means, UC has a pretty decent shot.
I place a lot of value in those 4 and 5 rating numbers here. They change but he's right far more often than not.

Mick is making a strong run at a point guard and a center.... I expect to hear news on each posistion in the coming weeks... After that, he'll have 1 scholarship to make a run at the best shooting guard in the country. If he can't land him, he'll have plenty of other great options for the final scholly...
