COLERAIN'S DAVIS COMMITS: Colerain junior offensive lineman Evan Davis on Wednesday made an oral commitment to attend and play for UC.
He's the first player to commit to the Bearcats for the class of 2008.
"Evan is a kid that's always had UC on the radar," Colerain coach Tom Bolden said. "He's excited about playing in the Big East. He's a typical hometown kid who sees the direction that UC is going in. Coming from a winning program, he wants to be part of a winning program."
Bolden said Davis is the kind of mobile, athletic lineman that UC coach Brian Kelly is looking for in his passing offense.
"He's 6-41/2 or 6-5 and weighs 255 pounds," Bolden said. "He played basketball here. He's got a frame that could put on another 30 or 35 pounds and still run in the 4.8 range. I think that's what they're looking for."
Bolden said Davis could add size without losing mobility.
"By the end of his freshman redshirt year, he could be 6-5, 290 pounds and be able to move," he said.
