Bearcat98 (Predicted - April 25th) (Should hear by May 31st)

Mick is making a strong run at a point guard and a center.... I expect to hear news on each posistion in the coming weeks... After that, he'll have 1 scholarship to make a run at the best shooting guard in the country. If he can't land him, he'll have plenty of other great options for the final scholly...

Give it the whole month of may... I think we'll all like the news... Also, keep in mind that with McElroy comitted for the only scholarship in 09' (pending no one leaves), Mick will have 2 FULL years to work on the class of 2010...

I think Mick is doing an amazing job, it is almost beyond belief as to how quickly he has been able to rejuvinate the basketball team.

I think we only have one scholarship to give in 2010 so Mick can sit on his thumbs after the 08' class. We gave six scholly's for 07' and have five for 08'. That leaves us with 1 when Mike Williams leaves (McElroy) and 1 more when Vaughn leaves (?). It's going to take a while to even that out unless we hold scholly's back or someone decides to transfer or is academically ineligible or red shirts or gets kicked off the team.

I have no knowlege of anyone leaving, but I would be shocked if Yancey gates is a 4 year guy (if he developes as he should)... if mick ends up with Tyler smith, he would graduate with vaughn in 09', Hopefully everyone is happy and sticks around, but with this much talent, there are no gurantees someone won't transfer out due to lack of playing time. Also, If Henry is as talented as i have been hearing and does have point guard skills at 6'-7" and the shooting range he supposidly has, I would be very suprised if he's a 4 year guy as well.

With that said, I hope everyone sticks around and is happy, but Mick would be foolish if he didn't recruit like he is going to have a few more scholly's to work with in 2010. If all goes well, lets get the best player we can in 2010 and he has 3 years to work on 2011 :).

I agree with you there. I was just joking about sitting on his thumbs. He needs to stay on the trail.

Kinda nice to be seeing talk about guys leaving early. Who was the last to leave early for the NBA? DeMarr?

Satterfield in 2001. Left after soph year. Drafted 2nd round, played a couple years.

The odds that in this day and age, entire classes of athletes will go through 4 years without anyone leaving, dropping out, getting kicked out, becoming ineligible, opting for the NBA or transferring are as astronomical as Abu Grahib becoming the venue for the next "Survivor" series.

FleXcursion predicts (http://forums.bearcatnews.com/showthread.php?t=205&page=4)

Mick Mick Mick..love the guy, but Tyler Smith's college choice is not up to him. I've dropped his name around some well informed people, and it's a no-go. Tyler Smith will not be a Bearcat.

I predict Tyler Smith and B J Mullins become Bearcats, but do not bet the house on it.

Wow Smith and Mullins. I would take a bet on Mullins.

I laugh everytime someone brings up Mullens as a possibility of coming to UC. There is a 0% chance of that happening, so I think we need to move on.

I have a couple of people that have made predicitions by the end of May but have not seen anything. Less then 9 days I should be hearing the Bost is a UC guy and that we should have news we like about a center and a point guard. I am giddy with anticipation.:)

Well, You are seeing the visits that were rumored to lead to commitments materialize (or try to materialize for that matter)... Even if the commitments hold off for a short time, you're starting to see the things materialize that I knew were coming at least... :). I still don't put much stock into the Woods thing... At least the potential visits are exciting...

Anybody see the King James Classic championship game with Woods' team and D-1 Greyhounds?? That kid has great hands and is a fierce rebounder! Also showed some ball skills with a great pass from the high post into the low post for a slam dunk. He runs the court well and appears to be more advanced offensively than most of the reports on McClain but still an intimidator on defense. He would be a fantastic get for Mick but I still think its going to be difficult to lure him out of SEC territory. GO CATS!!!!!

I predict someone from the 2007 class won't be eligible, so there will be 4 not 3 scholarships for the 2008 class and the 'Cats will get Kemba Walker, Dee Bost, Tony Mitchell and J'Mison Morgan.

Do you have a prediction which '07 recruit may not be eligible?

My guess would be Bishop or Henry. Both needed near perfect grades to be eligible.

I would agree that these 4 recruits are the most likely to end up in a Cincinnati uniform. I've been hearing the talk of someone not being eligible, but everyone i've talked to has said that a different guy would be inelegible for one reason or another so I'm not sure who is the most likely to not make it. My money would be on Henry, but that is just a gut feeling. I know he was going to have to put some summer school work in to become eligible in the first place... For the record, last I heard, Bishop was on track to be fine for next year, but that is just hear-say. No one really seems to know what's going on with Henry (or is saying a whole lot if they do) so that silence leads me to believe that somehting is up with him (IMHO).

That is a bold prediction. If that happens and we get to keep Henry, McClain, and A. Mitchell I will throw my first kegger in over 10 years:D

I hate to pick on you here IKnow but how are these and some of the other predictions by forum members working out? All those visits and committments by the end of May have come and gone too...don't recall who predicted that.

What is the next prediction from the forum? Are we close to getting a committment? Is Wilkes sitting in this year for Henry? Is Bost still our best option at PG? Any more on Morgan, Woods, etc? What happened with Mitchell?

We are always "close" to a commitment. Conversations take place between recruits and coaches all the time. Any one of those conversations could result in a commitment.

Henry / Wilks / ?? - yet to be determined.

Mitchell chose Alabama - after that, your guess is as good as any.

I shy away from making predictions of what a 17/18 yr old player is going to decide. Too unpredictable.

Walker - UConn
Mitchell - Alabama
Bost - undecided
JMison - unlikely

And Willie Warren (some thought UC was in the running) committed to Baylor.
