28 points on 8-16 shoot 5-9 3 point line and 7-8 from the line...is it just me or is he looking to become a better scorer this year cause those are not easy numbers to put up even if its a summer league game...he is lookin good to me this summer...u guyz think he wants to step up and be the #2 scoring option behind vaughn

Great numbers. I hope that he can play defense enough to stay in the game.

Bishop is much improved. He has been consistent from three all summer. Yancy was an absolute beast today. Deonta looks much quicker...there is a lot of talent on this team. I love Cash and Dixon!!! Cash was doing 360 dunks in warm-ups effortlessly...Dixon is smooth as silk...huge hops, pure shot. Mike Williams continues to look shaky to me. Him and Biggie have not been that impressive. In the first game, Mitchel looked very good. He is cut! Body looks like a pro...if Toyloy can play at all, I don't see how this team doesn't make the tournament. Mick's time is now! It won't be a talent issue this year. Belton is the only guy on the roster who won't help them. He is horrible!!! Biggie will be a situational player...I don't see how Larry Davis gets in the game. Dixon is a baller! Wilks in much improved...the kid from Western Carolina will help...should be fun!

Bishop improving his offensive game would be HUGE for UC. Glad to hear he is working on it.
I think Williams is gonna give us 10 pts/8 boards a game. I don't expect much more than that. I see Biggie as a 6/6 guy next year (maybe).
Gates will be our go-to guy in the middle.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the JUCO big man can do (Toyloy)...Devin Downey would look really good in a Bearcat uni right about now :-(

That is simply not true. He can rebound and play defense. I cant stand when people who dont have offensive touch are deemed ineffective. He can and will provide some decent minutes for this team and we are better with him on the roster. He is raw but will be an asset.

if you can't stand, then you had better sit for this one... strenguently disagree - He is not a BE talent. 6'6", not athletic, no ball skillz what-so-ever, and he'll be playing behind Toyloy, Gates, Williamson, and Biggie (all are 4/5 spot). He'll be the 5th big man...practice player. Connor Barwin is better. This kid couldn't get on the floor when all we had was Adam H. And Mike Williamson (6'4" PF). Ive heard he is coachable and a good student.
As far as defense, he guarded Gates like he was afraid of him. The freshman gave this guy ZERO respect!!! Dunked on him like he was the invisible man!!!

I agree but to a point. He does not have a mid range game or anything outside of that but he is effective with the ball in the post and has much better moves then he is given credit for. Also he is strong with the ball and gets his shot off without getting it blocked. Now if only he could shoot a free throw

Yeah but cash can be just like that this year. Remember how good downey was as a freshman? And he couldn't even shoot very well. Cash is just as if not quicker and from what i've been hearing he's absolutely electric on the offensive end. I'm expecting huge things from this kid and it really takes the sting out of seeing devan in another uniform.

I hope you are right. I saw Downey play quite a bit last year. He is a pro. He lead the nation in steals. Averaged almost 20 points and 6 assists. If Cashmere can come close to that productivity, then we'll be a top-25 team. Devin might be the best player in the SEC this year. He reminds me of Allen Iverson when he was at G'town.

Not sure how I don't get the cigar? He was speaking of Mike Williams and called him Williamson.
Nevermind I was referring to the sentence where he'll be playing behind Toyloy, Gates, WILLIAMSON, and Biggie. As opposed to the later line where he says Mike Williamson. Whatever no big deal.

Did some people say some other 6'6" player had no BE talent and he ended up doing quiet well in the BE???

Connor Barwin is better.
That's a bold statement... :D
I think Kenny could develop into a nice player. Some great things were said about him by UC and Maryland, and some analysts likened his touch around the basket to Danny Fortson. I'm not saying he's the best around, but I'm not ready to dismiss him either. He has a big body. With some effort, he could be a solid defender, rebounder, and inside scorer. He isn't there yet? Ok. But I'd rather have him in my starting line-up than Connor Barwin (as much as I love this kid for his effort, grit, and determination).

I think Belton has a nice back to the basket game, but there is no place for that in summer league. He is young, give it time

Went to watch the semi's of the DSL saturday, definitly two of the best, and by far most intense games. These guys are really getting competitive as the tournament gets deeper. Alvin Mitchell looks unbelievable, but I remember thinking the same thing about him this time last year so im trying not to drink the kool-aid just yet. But he has lost weight and looks great physically, and seems to be in great shape, doesnt look winded at any point in the games I have seen. I have also noticed little things about him, like getting along great with his teammates and being very enthusiastic while both on the court and on the bench. I sat behind the Clovernook bench during the Slats game and Mitchell stayed and did a little coaching for the Clovernook team. Again very small things, but never once did he look into the game from the bench last year. Cant wait to see the championship game this saturday, I think i give the slight edge to Mitchell's Flessa squad because of the overall size of the Flessa team with Mitchell, BJ Raymond, and incoming X freshman Kenny Frease. In a perfect world for me, Mitchell has a good game but Slat's wins on great guard play from Cash, Double D and Deonta. Should be alot of fun.

Great post Bearcat Fan. I was also in attendance this last weekend and enjoyed the games. Alvin just flat out looked better in every way over how he appeared last season.
For those in attendance on the bench side where I sat, after the game Alvin took off his jersey and walked around giving the fans a 1/4 moon, it was not a highlight of the afternoon. I will be there again this Saturday to watch several compelling matchups including Gates verses Frease. Double D or Vaughn will be on Mitchell for a good portion as well.

Is there an admission charge? I'd like to attend this Saturday and it'd be my first time. Also, is it a nice area of town? I've lived in Cincinnati for seven years now and it's still a wilderness for me. :)

Based on the incredible play of our incoming recruits, improved play from Vaughn, Bishop, and Mike Williams........I'm going out on a limb and predicting a National Championship. ;)

Just curious: Do you let your concerns about the neighborhood prevent you from attending BB or FB games at UC? There's no reason for concern at either Woodward or at UC.

Yep, apparently he never should have come to UC.
Devan is a stud college player...I'd trade anyone besides Vaughn for him...and I would think abotu trading Vaughn...
He has not wasted anything, to say so is to be very ignorant.

I think he means by going to a program that cannot make the tourney and therefore not being able to showcase his talent on the big stage

Wow, that is a sad statement.
I have been going to the SL multiple times every year for over a decade. Woodward is in an absolutely fine part of town. They have two large nice, easy access parking lots and the gym and school are air conditioned not to mention brand new.
You will have no problems and encounter a nice group of serious basketball fans from all walks of life.
Give it a shot, you won't be uncomfortable or disappointed.

:eek:It is amazing to me how people have this bad image in there head of cincinnati. Woodward is a fine area. Downtown is nice and getting better. Some parts of Clifton are bad at night but Campus is a safe as can be.

Give him a break, he just asked if it was a nice part of town. Answer: Yes.
Also, referring to the Downey comment, UC hasn't made the tourney since he's been in college either. The only way he's made a poor decision is if he's not happy in SC, and you don't know.

Thanks It7784. I didn't much mean it like it sounded. I just don't feel comfortable leaving my little 50cc scooter unattended for long in some parts of town, but prefer using it for all my city driving. Being cautious is all.
As to the other questions. Four of those seven years were living on campus at UC, two were on Ohio Avenue (worst thing that happened there was my car got broken into once) and this past year I've been living in Blue Ash. I'm moving back to Clifton this coming month before I begin my last year of graduate school. I plan to make all the home FB and BB games that I can. Last year the only home game I missed was the OSU game. All that said, I feel safe in Cincinnati and love this city. There is no bad image of Cincinnati in my head, I'm a Cincinnati fanatic. :)

If you know you were a UC fan you know that situation and how it could have been different so to say just because UC has not been there is completely different then going to a program that just never gets there
