15 players?!?!!! When's the last time UC had 15 guys on the basketball roster. And every one of those players have either played significant PT or are likely to get significant PT this year. I am excited this year just to have a roster full of high quality scholarship talent versus the usual 6 scholarship players, two walk-ons, two football players, and a hurricane victim.

I agree nachoman and am very excited about the potential for this year.
But...we have to remember that as the season begins, we only have one player that has played more than one full season of D1 ball. I am sure that is one reason why the OC schedule is as "soft" as it is.

Riek listed at 7'1"? I'd heard as high as 7'3". Oh well, irrelevant seeing as the "kid" can touch rim without jumping:D

14 scholarship eligible players on a team that has 13 scholarships to give. my pre-zimpher degree says that is one over the limit. Who goes?!?!?

Aldridge is not on scholarship. Only time will tell whether he is when school starts.

While I'm anxious to see the new players, especially the big men......I'm very curious to see how Bishop, Davis, and Mitchell progessed over last year.

The schedule may be softer than usual, but I still think it's a way above average OOC schedule. You have Memphis who is top 5 team every year and will be again with a loaded class coming in. Florida St. is no slouch, then theres that mid major across town, UNLV who has been a tourney team lately and will be tough again (or Cal), UAB, and Miss St. I do have to agree though that some of the others are very "soft". I think it will be a good mix with some big time games and teams to get prepared for conference along with some cupcakes that build that confidence and make it an easy night for the starters and players logging the majority of the minutes.

Yeah, I really think it is a great mix. On the enquirer.com, a lot of people are ripping MC for making such an easy schedule. But I think it is perfect for where are team is. Some hopefully blowouts in with some verrry tough games as well. In a couple years, those South Dakotas and such may be replaced with decent mid-majors but right now i think it is just right.

Not to change the subject or post, but I just thought that I would share this with everyone......this is why I HATE xavier fans........uneducated, out of this world mindset......this was a blog post in the enquirer online today. i added my thoughts in bold. i just want to see if I am crazy or this guy is a typical XU fan....

The Muskies, as usual, will be the team to beat in the A-10 (Prob right). With one of the best recruiting classes in school history, including IU transfer Jordan Crawford, our first real center, 6'11 Kenny Frease, and 5 significant scholarship players from last years Elite Eight team, expectations will be high(wrong, players left from Elite 8 team have no playing time pretty much and recruits are young. frease is highest rated recruit at like #40 something, which isnt that great to be dynamite right away). I expect XU to defeat overrated Pac-10 foe USC("expect", are you kidding me, he's talking like xu is now ucla of old). Memphis should be a win too with the lose of Douglas-Roberts, Dorsey, and powerhouse freshman Derek Rose(thats unbelievable comment too???? they didnt reload or anything). Who knows about the Butler game (so xu will knock off usc and memphis, but the butler game is a tossup???????). To me though the most important game of the season is the Dec. 20th game in NJ. We need revenge on the Blue Devils for taking away our Final Four five years ago. Those refs that day were totally biased towards Duke. There were 3 bad calls down the stretch. 1 on Myles and 2 on Chalmers. If it weren't for those 3 terrible calls, we would have been in the final four (typical xu fan complaining about refs). Get ready Devils. You're about to feel the POWER OF X!!! Fages OUT!!!
I apologize for those of you who are wondering WTF, but I just lost it when I read this. I am just tired of XU fans thinking they are the caliber of UNCs, Dukes, etc. Yeah I am biased as a UC season ticket holder, but come on!!!!!!!

Let's just refer to them as "Mid-Major Eggs-avier". I expect they will go the way of Gonzaga before long -- a couple of stellar years followed by mediocrity.

I'm not worried about one person spouting off about their favorite team. We do it here all the time.
Lets stay on topic: the Bearcats season schedule.

Haha yeah but that was really funny. That Enquirer.com forum was what I was talking about too. Half of the people just had no clue about anything and 95% of those people were XU fans spitting off how great they are. They WILL NOT get back to the Elite 8, thats for sure.
ANYWAY.....isnt the topic our roster?

The highest rated recruit comment absolutely floors me. Xavier's previous two highest rated recruits were Lloyd Price and Churchill Odia. NEITHER did anything while at Xavier. In fact, Odia barely saw the floor and transferred. Price was a showboat destined for the big house with his criminal activity.
Yeah, I don't understand how UC fans can be cautiously optimistic with all this youth, while still having a very good recruiting class, yet Xavier fans think their recruiting class is going to immediately pick up where they left off last year. Other than Brown and Raymond, they are pretty inexperienced.
Playing in the cakewalk A-10 Conference only serves to inflate their ego's. Kinda like UC's previous domination of CUSA........and some of the posters on here who had higher expectations for UC, only to see them flop in the Big Dance.
