If the NCAA approves this, it will be very interesting to see how it changes the game if at all. I think it's a good move as it seems even the 6'9" power forward has been making this shot with some consistency....

I agree that it is needed, but I find this quote amusing: ""We made it a point to come up with a distance that was correct for us and that didn't necessarily mimic the international line," Keating said."
So why exactly 1 foot? Why is that correct "for us" but the Int'l line is not? I think some conformity here (recognizing the Int'l line) would have been nice. I'd actually like to see the college game move towards some of the Int'l rules (foul lane for example).
I suppose the main argument is "moving it only 9 inches is not significant enough". To which my response is: What difference is 3 inches then? If they are not going to do Int'l, I would like to see 21'9". Half way between current and NBA.

When I played Catholic Youth Organization ball I could drop that shot with some consistency:D Put a 6'5 guy with a hand in my face and maybe not:( I don't think it will affect much really. 3 point % may go down a couple points but that's about it.

It will take time for the psychological impact to dissipate. Expect fewer attempts for a while.

I respectfully disagree.
In today's game, most players want to be a star shooter no matter the position played, so moving the 3 point line back will only encourage players to "show off" their range, or lack thereof.

I think it will have an impact for two reasons.
1) It agree that it will not hit the SGs and PGs as much (and even SFs), but the taller players and big men who have started shooting them put less arch on the ball and that extra foot will make a difference. Also, it won't be as easy for big men to get to the three point line since they are further from hoop. It doesn't sound like a lot, but a foot can make a big difference not only in the shot, but if the shot is taken.
2) I think that this will bring more of a traditional game where post players will be rewarded by spacing down low. With guards and small forwards further from the hoop there will be more inside scoring and driving due to the spacing needed.

I think this was the biggest consideration, and 9 inches was not enough, but then is 1 foot enough to accomplish it? Probably not much different. Should be 21'9" then.
