View Full Version : Alridge Not Enrolling This Fall

I just heard on ch19 news that Nick Aldridge is not enrolling for the fall quarter. Of course that's all they said and they would have more later on the 10 o'clock news. So I guess this means he wasn't satisfied being a walk on. It seems strange that he would spend all this time here to only lose another year. He has some talent and is wasting his eligibility. Maybe this means UC got word Reik passed his SAT and that's where Aldridge's scholly went. Anybody got any news, additional info? Sorry, I mispelled his name for the thread.

I'm pretty sure he has moved into an apartment at University Park Apartments (where the rest of the team is staying). I guess that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't enrolled, but I'm almost positive he's at least living in Clifton.

It appears it wasn't necessarily Aldridge's decision.

If that's the case then I feel sorry for him. He wanted to be Bearcat from day 1 and if he's getting forced off the team, I find that uncool. That being said. Have to make room for the talent.

I agree. If what I heard is indeed true there was either some confusion as to where he stood or he was forced out. I know this is different than Sleaze Miller forcing a kid like Graves out at X but, yeah, it's not cool and it has to somewhat reflect poorly on Mick. I hope he does well wherever he ends up. The kid averaged 18 + as freshman and now he's lost two years. I really have to wonder if anything was promised to him prior to his transfer.

No, more like Aldridge did not meet the goals set for him.

If this is true, it was all on Aldridge.

I am glad to see that he was immediately released. It's refreshing to not hear, "We are going to let the legal system run it's course." We heard that line for 15 years.

It's amazing how people immediately blame Mick without getting all of the facts.

I find it amusing that C Trent and others immediately start trashing the program even though UC dismissed him immediately.

I find it amusing that C Trent and others immediately start trashing the program even though UC dismissed him immediately.I don't think he intended his wording to trash the program. He was just trying to make the point that the image change would take a hit due to this. So far though I haven't seen anything nationally to warrant that.

I agree, he is the only one that has bashed UC's program. He seemed really quick to jump on UC. I like Trent but he is not a UC fan. He is a UGA fan but I didnt like how fast he was to jump on Mick and UC.

Indeed, very decisive action (like UC took with Roy Bright in 2005) by the HC. Cronin had similar experiences with Trey Pearson and Adam Chiles at Murray State. Both had "problems" elsewhere and were booted from MSU at the first hint of "problems" there.

If this was Deonta Vaughn you would be hearing that line. The further down the bench they are the easier it is to cut them.

c trent didn't rip the program. he is a journalist, his job is to break a story. uc didn't give a reason for why the released aldridge, and c. trent simply checked the hamilton county website and put 2 and 2 together. just because someone reports something negative (which is factual), does not mean he is bashing the program.

It is good that Mick took an immediate stand on this. Aldridge was a walk on who could have given some quality minutes but he will not be greatly missed. (remainder deleted)

Tearing down other programs does nothing to inflate UC's program.

Leave the XU comments off the board.

Ralph - please stick to the topic. If you want to say another program is not as good as UC's, do so properly and with respect.

It's sad to see another kid circling the drain, but he put himself in the sink.

On the other hand. If he wasn't getting a scholly, he had to pay for school somehow! :D

You only fooling yourself if you think a top tier player is going to be cut based on an arrest alone. Aldridge hasn't been convicited of anything that I'm aware of.

It wasn't the fact that he wasn't a top tier player. It's the fact that he had troubles at his previous school and therefore Mick had him on a short leash/zero tolerance policy.

Had Vaughn had other issues in the past, Mick would have done the same thing, IMO.

Jason Henry was a top talent, but when he didn't qualify, Mick immediately stopped recruiting him. He didn't care that he could have qualified the following year. Not the best example, but it applies.

I just heard this the other day. Apparently, when Mick accepted Aldridge as a transfer, Mick did his research with WCU and found out some of the areas of trouble Aldridge had in the past. Aldridge had a short leash, but this was never publicly stated. It was a situation where Aldridge was moving up in the world, but also came with baggage..........this was HIS CHANCE to better himself in more ways than one, but he blew it.

Perhaps in the 1-AA Southern Conference he would score at will. In the Big East behind Williams and Gates, he'd be lucky to see the floor.

Do you mean have?

Do you mean "as a stockboy"?

After a comma, you don't capitalize the letter unless it's a proper noun or name.

When you finish 4th grade, then come back and post again.

Civil and thoughtful discourse is the common goal here. Everyone please shake hands and return to your respective corners. While there are several posters on this site who could be charactors out of "one flew over the coo coo's nest" they still deserve respect and civility. The common ground is supporting UC athletics.
