After doing a little research on the web it does appear that the rumors are true (or at least heating up) about getting quite a few recruits on campus over the next few weeks. Some of the names being thrown around are Tony Woods and Teondre Williams right now. Maybe Jeff Gentil wasn't off base with his predictions after all. I haven't been able to verify if it will be this weekend or not.
I couldn't find any other names but multiple websites are calling for multiple on campus visits soon for the cats. If you know of any other names drop us a hint.

Yes, rumors are true... Several this weekend and a couple the next... I don't have names and dates, but there will be a lot happening with recruiting visits the next few weeks. That much is true.

Wasn't Dontonio Wingfield from GA? I am not complaining, but how is UC getting these kids right there in SEC territory?:D

Dontonio was from GA but that was a long time and two coaches ago. We haven't "gotten" any of them yet but with the rumored amount of recruits visiting soon I like our chances at wrapping up one or two new recruits in the near future. That is not a prediction or statement of fact but it is exciting to hear we have at least a few kids coming to visit our facilities!!
How much more likely is it to land a recruit if they visit campus as opposed to the coach chasing them around at AAU tournaments? 2X as likely? More/less?

I think the GA kids like our school colors;) As long as they want to bleed red and black I don't care where they come from.

Does Mick have a connection with GA? I noticed that a lot of his targetted recruits and current recruits are from GA.

I believe Komera, an AAU coach or something and one of Mick's very good friends has strong ties in the Georgia area as does Larry Davis judging by many recruits comments, they freaking love that guy.

Komara was Mike Williams and Tyler Smith's AAU coach. Not sure about the AAU teams location, but Komara and Mick are very close...

Is it me, or does it seem like Mick is close to everybody? He wasn't kidding when he said he'd been working connections since he was in high school. I think this will pay huge dividends down the road. It's already helped so far.

Mick Cronin worked the Howard Garfunkel 5 Star camps in the 1990's. He met and befriended Who's Who in the AAU recruiting world in that capacity.
So does anybody know for sure who will be visiting? I'd love to have Woods but I feel like it will be almost impossible to get him away from Florida. Hopefully we have a pg (Bost or Walker) visiting and ready to commit.

I've heard that Tony Mitchell and Dee Bost are on campus this weekend. Kemba Walker is indeed at an AAU tourney out west and Tony Woods didn't make the trip.

Found this article on Mitchell written a few weeks ago... Sounds like a **** of a player. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=rivals-123109&prov=rivals&type=story_recruiting
Simple is the best way to put it when it comes to Mitchell's decision. Darby said there is one thing that stands out the most.
"They are real big on loyalty," [AAU coach] Darby says, "and that's why I think those four right there (Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati and South Carolina) are going to be tough to beat. They have sent head coaches out to see him. They've been to the high school. They've been to our games. They really want to recruit him."
edit: Its already posted in the recruiting section, but for those of you who don't subscribe to rivals...

Any good news on our visitors to campus this weekend? Were there others here besides Mitchell and Bost? Intersting that we had the two guys who are rumored as "ready to commit if Mick is" were on campus at the same time.
Maybe Mick has exhausted his other opportunites at PG and SG. I would be happy with the two above if we aren't high on the list of Warren. This would allow Mick to focus on the last scholarship which would be a big man. Center would be nice but a big PF wouldn't hurt either. Woods, Morgan, Gibson, Juco?

It looks like Mike has upped the recruiting interest level on Bost and Mitchell to a "5", which usually means they are on the verge of committing or have committed but not made it public yet. If this is the case and both commit, then all we need is a center - hopefully Woods or Morgan - and we will have our Fab Five for '08. FWIW, I would rather have Bost and Mitchell as opposed to Warren and Walker. Warren may be gone after a year in college where as Mitchell looks to be at least a 3-year college player. Bost seems to fit Mick's up and down style better than Walker from what I've heard.
Also want to know what happens if this scenario plays out. There has been some rumors that Bost may be classified as an '07 recruit vs '08. Let's say Bost commits to UC and then is declared eligible as an '07 recruit and everyone on next year's team is eligible, thus no scholly's available for '07. Does or is Bost able to still go prep for a year and then come in as an '08 recruit or because he is declared eligible for '07, he has to come in as an '07 recruit or go juco for 1 year and is not able to go the prep route?
Finally, what is there to make of the Tony Woods no show this weekend. A lot of people on this board feel that we have a very good shot at landing Woods, yet Mike has not even started a file on him yet. Then, with the no-show this weekend, it makes me wonder if we are not as strong with him as some may think. Anyone have any inside info on why Woods did not show (hopefully AAU schedule, travel plans got messed up, etc.)?
Also, anyone know if any or all of the new recruits will be playing in the summer league this year?

Looks like everybody is participating but John Williamson. I think he is recovering from knee surgery (not sure).

I think most people knew that it would be very hard to get Woods out of the south. He has been pretty high on Florida for awhile. While there is always a chance of getting him I don't think it will happen. I do think we will be seeing verbals from Bost and Mitchell soon which is great.

Thanks, guys
I took a look at the website and I noticed they have Van Exel and Blount listed as playing this year. It would be nice to see Nick there again. I remember he played for a year or two after he was drafted, I guess now that he is retired, he has a little more free time.
I wish the site would list what players are on each team. I would assume that most if not all the recruits will play for Slats along with a few vets and then some of the others will be spread out on some of the other teams.

I've never been of the opinion that we have a great shot at Woods. We have a shot, but have a much better chance at Morgan IMHO....

I think Woods made a statement about visiting this summer not necessarily this weekend. He also made a statement that he likes the way UC has been recruiting him as well as Florida. He likes Larry Davis. I don't see why we don't have a shot to steal this kid. It may not be high probability but if Mick puts on the hard sell anything can happen. With the team filling out the way it is I think we can get one of these big men to commit. It's not hard to paint a picture of UC returning to prominence with the 07' and 08' commits not to mention 09'.

Woods was going to make the trip this weekend, but he decided to attend a family member's graduation instead; he's still planning on visiting sometime within the next few months.
John Williamson is having surgery on his knee. He will not be able to play in the Deveroe's Summer League, but is expected to be back in playing shape my late summer.

Sorry, I was posting that based on previous posts. I don't want to perpetuate a rumor that isn't true. No visitors but Bost and Mitchell move to level of interest 5. Intereting...

That's a real shame that a recruiting site would fabricate a story about a visitation to get some extra biz. It's a shame that they would fabricate a story about anything to get more biz. Was there any explanation of the deleted article?

The article was deleted because it was completely made up and the author of the article has since been fired. Just goes to show you that like in most things even if 99 out of 100 things is true or accurate there is always that 1 which isn't and many people will harp on. Recruiting and scouting isn't the easiest business and sometimes though rarely you will encounter something like this.

Hey guys, this is Todd Cunningham the site publisher for BearcatLair.com since you guys are talking about the events that happened on Sunday I thought I would chime in and let you know what happened.
First let me say the author of the story in question had never made anything up and I had no reason to think that this was any different. However, I started to get conflicting information on Monday regarding whether or not both Mitchell and Bost actually visited over the weekend. When I did some further digging I comfirmed that neither Bost or Mitchell had visited.
Once I had confirmed this information I went back to the author of the story to asked if he lied to me when he said he spoke to Mitchell after his visit the answer I got was yes.
I immediately let the author know that he was no longer associated with Rivals or BearcatLair.com as I do not tolerate this kind of thing. Everything I have ever put out there has been factual until the Mitchell article that we published on Sunday evening.
The author of the fabricated story is no longer working for Rivals or BearcatLair.com. If any Bearcat fans out there have any questions about what happened just ask me and I will tell you what is up.
