Do we play them twice next year?

I think they are making a wise decision. I think G'Town will be predicted to finish top 3 in BE for 07-08 season.
BE schedule probably won't be out until end of summer. With 18 game format, we will play them at least once.

Hibbert's projected as a top ten NBA pick. Green shouldn't be that far behind. They're probably awaiting their draft status to make up their minds, and it's a good bet they'll not be wearing G'town garb next year, regardless of what ESPN says.

I imagine Green will be drafted before Hibbert (Green is a vastly superior player). However, the NBA is famous for drafting really big guys way too high, and Hibbert is about as big as it gets.
Not that Hibbert is terrible, but he is way too slow to be more than a decent NBA center. Green will be a star. I'd be shocked if either of them returned to G-town.

If Green decides to return, I think Georgetown becomes the prohibitive favorite to win the Big East and a legitimate national title contender.

Chad Ford's mock draft (for what it is worth) has them going 11 & 12. If that is the case I can see why they might return.

Not really a bold prediction... If they both return they'll be predicted to finish 1st in the BE.

If they both return, they'll be picked to win the Big East and be a top 5 team in the country.

Yahoo Sports has the Kings taking Hibbert at #10 and the Hornets taking Green at #13

Why go back to school if you're a projected top 10? It did little for Joakim Noah (projected at #8).

That's true, Matt Leinart is another good example. However, I think that an extra year in college can help you refine your skills, whether it shows or not, and make the player more ready for the NBA.
Look at what happened to Satterfield. Not the same situation, but you know what I mean.
Plus, maybe they're close to graduating.

Green is going pro, not sure if that has been said. Hibbert is staying and that is a mistake, he can not improve his status in my opinion.
I can't blame them for wanting to come back to win a National Championship. The NBA and the money will still be there for them after next year. Even though it looks like Green is gone they still will be pretty tough next year and my pick to win the Big East.

Coming back for his senior year Kenyon (I know, not in the same boat as these two) broke his leg. There are reasons to cash in now, not that there aren't reasons to stay.

Kenyon was also the FIRST overall pick of the draft. Would he have been if he came out the previous year?
True he is taking a risk of getting injured but Hibbert could use another year in college. Maybe he really wants to get a degree I don't know.It use to be college kids wanted a NC but now it seems like all they care about is the NBA. Of course there is nothing wrong with that but I do have a respect for a guy that wants to stay all 4 years.

Hibbert is a very skilled post player on offense and defense though a bit slow and stands a good chance of being the top center in next years draft. As the top center he could go in the top 3-5 next year and get his degree in the process. For Green there are always up and coming 3 and 4 men around the country and he is probably better served to strike while his iron is HOT!

That is why I put in the caveat about being in the same boat.
What happens if, god forbid, Roy is in a car accident or someone in his family needs serious medical care. I would take the money, and get the degree later (if I need it, like Nick).
Last Year by pick:
#1 4.5 Mil
#5 3 Mil
#10 2 Mil
#15 1.5 Mil
In my opinon, not worth the possible risk for the reward next year. If he is that good, his contract will change in years following.

That's stretching it IMO. The odds of that, or any career ending injury, are pretty slim. Personally, I think it's worth the risk to play another year, graduate, win a NC, and maybe improve your stock. However, if I was a sure top 5 pick, I'd be outta there.

I just saw on the ESPN bottom line "ticker" that Hibbert has withdrawn his name from the NBA draft. Green will not return, according to Yahoo sports.

I read somewhere Hibbert and Green both took out insurance policies before there college junior year to protect them against the possibility of injury. The article said Hibbert wants the opportunity to win a national championship at Georgetown and that Green is going to move on to the NBA. The article also said Green is currently looking for an agent. Green said the chances were very slim he would be back in college next year; although he did not completely rule it out in the article.

I find it interesting that we spend so much time talking about other team's players. While I understand the effect is has on UC being in the same league, until UC gets back to the status of competing for the BE Championship, I really don't care all that much.

I agree. AS much as I would like all players to stick around, it makes sense for Green to go right now while he is rated so high. Another year and teams will pick his game apart. He's a skilled player that is the ultimate team player. That could hurt him if he went back to college.
Hibbert has improved leaps and bounds over the last couple of years. He has a chance to be a national champion and, with improvement, can easily go Top 5 next year. His own comments abut being worried that he would be buried on the bench in the NBA and not allowed to develop are very insightful and refreshing to hear. Good for him.

In that it could mean the difference between one more win or loss next year I am very interested. As we all know wins were few and far between last year and any better chance for another is worth talking about.

Then, that would mean we track every team on our schedule....their recruiting, players returning, etc, etc, etc. Why just Hibbert and Green? UC has to be able to compete with anyone and everyone, not just Georgetown.

When the next national story about two top 20 players who are possibly returning to a team that UC has on the schedule I will be sure to post it also. No one is pinning you down and forcing you to read this discussion.
