I don't have a subscription, it's just on the front of their main page:

"Over the past few weekends in May, Kemba Walker lead the New York Gauchos to a tournament title at the Cactus Classic in Arizona and the runner up trophy at the Nike Memorial Day Classic in Nashville Tennessee. Because of his play Walker’s recruitment has really started to take off. There has been speculation that Walker might be visiting Cincinnati this weekend. Is this true? Go inside The Lair to find out if Walker will be on campus."

Exactly. Rivals put the clip (teaser) on their front page.

I have no proof of this, but I got a pm from someone telling me Walker was suppose to play a pickup game with some of the players on Saturday afternoon, but not sure if that ever happened or not.

Mick and his staff are doing a great job of getting in the door of several top recruits from all over the nation. Keep up the good work UC coaches. Hopefully some the visitors will end up signing with UC.

Kemba Walker is nasty, he would be an outstanding pick-up...let's hope Mick can seal the deal this weekend. Walker would thrive playing in Mick's up-tempo offense as would the players playing with him, especially transition players like Wilks, Gates, and Henry. Can you imagine the highlight reels those four could make playing together, it would put James White's to shame. Hopefully Mick can get it done, I would love to see us get a commitment from Mitchell and Walker by the end of the month so we can put the full-court press on another center.

How tall is Kemba, Mike has him listed at 5'11 but different articles I have read have him listed at 6'1 - 6'2? Anyone know which is correct?

Also, I'm sure everyone has seen that Donovan is having second thoughts and probably will wind up back at Florida. I wonder how that will effect recruiting. I can see it having a negative impact in that other coaches will tell kids that Donovan cannot make a decision, he may bolt at anytime for the NBA. Or I can see it having a positive impact with Donovan telling kids his heart is in the college game and he will be at Florida for a long time because he had a perfect opportunity/situation to leave and chose not to. What do you guys think?

Finally, FWIW, I would like to see a class of Walker, Mitchell, Warren and Woods/Morgan if Henry is ineligible. I believe if Henry is ineligible and Mick can get Walker, Mitchell and Woods/Morgan, the only way he should use the final scholly next year is if Warren accepts it, if not pocket it for the '09 class. I also believe that Mick should not purposefully pocket schloraships to balance out the classes. I think potential early entry candidates like Henry (if eligible), A. Mitchell, McClain, Gates and Wilks (if they leave early) will balance the classes out eventually.

Any news on what Walker thought of his visit to UC? I haven't seen any "he was very impressed" statements. Does anyone have a feel for how the visit went? I guess getting him to play some ball with the team is a good sign and a good way to make him feel comfortable.

When or where are the rest of the rumored recruiting visits? Who's next?

KingDog, there will be no need to pocket scholarships as long as Mick can land top 100 talent and specifically top 50 talent if Henry isn't eligible. If he can't get top 100 talent he might as well wait till 09' but I don't think that will happen. I say take em' while you can get em'.

I'd say he is 6'0.

I think Mick has the full court press going on for every position and every player at all times. He's an impressive recruiter. And he's young enough to keep up this pace for a long time.

I don't believe insider information is legally protectible (outside of a contract or government restriction). Of course you cannot violate copyrights.

Net, net, if you read on Rivals that Kemba is coming to Cincinnati, you're free to pass on that information (with or without attribution). But you cannot cut and paste the story on to the forum.

Thanks, Mike. Any idea on how the visit went, I see you moved him up to a
"5". Do you think he will decide within the next couple of months or in the fall? Anything you can give us would be great.

Visits always go "great". Ever notice that in the articles? No player has ever had a published report that says "man that campus sucked". So the visit's always go "great".

The reason he is a "5" is simply because he visited campus, not because of anything I heard. If you get a guy to visit campus, that often times deserves a "5".

This kid seems like another that is suddenly coming out from under a rock, and Mick was already onto him. You didn't hear much until now about this kid and suddenly everyone and their grandma is after him.

I still think Wilks, Gates, Walker, Mitchell and then a top starting center would be the beginning of something great. If Henry isn't eligible, wouldn't surprise me to see Bost.

Walker has had a strong AAU game this summer. He is catching everyones eye. He will probably move to a 4 star rating by the end of the summer, maybe even a 5.

I will humbly point out that I was touting him early last fall. :)

According to the recent update on the recruiting page, Walker's coach stated that Walker may decide by mid-June or at the latest before school starts in the fall. Things change but we may know something shortly...

He's been a prominent name in recruiting circles all spring.

From what I've been reading lately, seems he's leaning heavily towards UConn

Per scouts UConn page Walker will not be a Bearcat and will be a Huskie.

Next focus: Bost or Fortson? Bost may be the best bet since I haven't heard much about Fortson, but the way 2008 has gone players can end up anywhere on anyday.

Kindog202

If not Walker then I would assume Bost before Fortson as it appears recently that Fortson has moved UC down on his list. Appears Fortson will stay south, probably in the SEC. I will be really bummed if Walker goes to UConn, I thought he was a lock given Mick and his high school coaches close relationship and the fact he visited campus and played in some pickup games.

Due to the quick commitment it sounds like he was waiting for UConn and once he recieved an offer he took it. My guess is that UC had worked him so he wanted to come here, but he just couldn't pull the trigger away from his "dream school".

Kindog202

With Walker committing to UConn and Fortson probably staying in the South, I would anticipate something shortly announcing that Bost will be a Bearcat. I get the impression from what I have read that Bost is/was just waiting for Mick to offer? Also, anything new with Tony Mitchell or Tony Woods? What kind of pull do you guys think Gates will have in Colorado playing w/Warren and Woods in the next couple of weeks?

When you come in second in recruiting you still come in last. Mick is in the ball game with the big boys and that is all anyone could ask. Mick will get his share of recruits. Just wait and see.
