. . .according to this article . . . (http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070606/NEWS02/706060397/-1/BUSINESS04)

"Two such incumbents whose names have been mentioned in academic circles in connection with the U of I search are Nancy Zimpher, president of the University of Cincinnati, and Larry Penley, president of Colorado State University. Neither has withdrawn from consideration for the Iowa City job."

This is the academic equivalent of a 5-star recruit if she goes.

I don't want to shake the hornets nest or anything, but as a student who just completed my fourth of five years here, I will (mildly) state that I am less than impressed with her performance here. All starting back with the whole "secret" changing of the C-Paw.

But I don think that this could be good timing. If she goes, then it could bring back all of those fans who said "I will never support UC sports again until she is gone." While these people may not be the ideal sports fan, at least they will be coming back at a time where our football team is on a huge upswing, not to mention a coming resurgence of the basketball team. Hopefully we can get them to once again love UC sports.

At the same time though, it won't make things all perfect the instant she is gone. Anyone would be a fool to think so. Changing presidents can cause all sorts of hardships on the university. It may not affect sports so much, but as a student, it could have impacts to the faculty and staff who are vital to what universities are actually used for -- Education.

Just my 2 cents.

Nancy has been wonderful for UC, it would be a big loss if she left, she is very supportive of UC Athletics. However, her going to Iowa will not happen, Nancy will be at UC for many years to come. I look forward to seeing Nancy along with Brian Kelly and Mick Cronin on the UCATS dinner cruise June 26.

Is this like how you said UC will have Winthrop's head coach instead of Cronin, Al? We all know that everything you say can't be taken seriously.

As far as being wonderful for UC, I'd like you to take a poll of staff on campus and see how many give her a thumbs up for the job she has done thus far.

Nancy will not be at UC for "years to come". The lady is past retirement age now, though she is tough as nails and could work until she's well into her teens (hundred and teen).

If she goes to Iowa, they may need to change...

Chocolate milk back up through my nose and all over my keyboard and computer screen.

That's not fair. You should warn us first.

I am glad Lori cleared this up, I knew Nancy would not be leaving. She is a young 60 and I look forward to having her as President for many years to come, as do the UC board of trustees. Nancy is very supportive of UC Athletics.

Moe Edger and Greg Doyal on 1530 had an opinion poll yesterday on who (based on looks) would you want to date, Nancy or Hillary Clinton. Nancy won, Doyal says Nancy is hot!
