Here's an article from today's Columbus Dispatch (Thad vs Huggs today at JSC in C-bus) that is about how OSU gave UC/Huggins a cold shoulder for all these years: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/12/27/osu_mbk27.ART_ART_12-27-08_C1_GRCBQ7O.html?sid=101

In 16 seasons as coach at Cincinnati, when the floor more often than not was tilted in the Bearcats' favor, Ohio State wanted nothing to do with him or his teams, 14 of which were good enough to play in the NCAA Tournament.

There's no reason why we shouldn't have That Other State University on our schedule next year, but maybe we'll be too much better than a couple years ago. As Brian Kelly said about the football team, "If they don't want to play here (Cincinnati), I'll play them in a parking lot in Xenia."

Anyone who thinks this game isn't an interest to UC fans has their head stuck in the sand. For one thing we need to see what WV looks like since we play them. My opinion is closing threads just piss's a lot of fans off and kills the action. Of course if there is no threads then there is none to close so there's that.

Gotta love BK! I wish Mick was this quotable.

If it stays respectful, it stays open. Maybe this one will finally be the one that stays respectful.

Excellent non-conference showing for Big East brethren WVU over Big 10 OSU. WVU is blowing out Ohio State in Columbus.

Wow! Did it do my and thousands of other UC fans, see Huggins thump Matta and OSU, heart good? You bet! OSU was getting beat so bad excuses were made about them being young but not much mention Huggins had his 3 freshmen recruits playing. Made my day baby!

Definitely big for the Big East, as this may be our 6th or 7th best team in the league. Should be a tough matchup for many Big East opponents as 7 of their 8 players who played today were between 6'5 and 6'9. They may struggle against a player like Hasheem Thabeet, but I think they will pull some upsets in the conference. As for UC, it will be interesting to see how they match up against them. WVU is quick and does well in the paint (not from a post play stand point but from getting guys open in the lane) and can also shoot. Looking forward to it.

I didn't start this thread. Ask the one who did.

W Va won a meaningless December basketball game with Jim Belien's recruits, not real impressed.

They are even if you aren't. WVU is now 36-13 under its current coach, much better than either of its two previous coaches.

Pretty much like UC after Badger and Yates. MUCH better.

He has built his record at WVU with Jim Beliens' recruits.

I agree it is remarkable he could do that! There was only one Belien recruit out of the whole bunch that was even rated in the top 200. Just think what Huggins will do with top 100 and top 50 rated recruits. Moving on up as they say!

Belein is a sharp recruiter who left BH a loaded group of talent, BH owes every win at WVU to Belein. Belein after one year of recruiting to Michigan beat Duke this season.

What an absolute crock. WVU recruiting was much improved in 2008 when the new coach arrived. Already better in 2009 and 2010 classes, too.

Imagine if he signed John Riek, WVU would be odds-on favorite to win NCAA.

Huggins Hater. He has won numerous games with his own recruits (1992 through 2005) at previous coaching spot.

Please take the pro/anti Huggins argument to the adulation thread.
