Memphis game got more meaningless today

Memphis is not a Top 25 team as of today. Memphis has joined the others receiving votes crowd. Tonight's game is a December basketball game between two unranked teams. Maybe it will help the RPI in the long run.

Memphis is still a big name team and will likely be ranked at the end of the season because of their reputation and easy conference schedule.

They also will end the season with a pretty strong RPI.

Winning this game would really add to UC's resume...

You're right. Going into a tough atmosphere and beating a team that is a double digit favorite would me "meaningless". I doubt it would do anything for this team's confidence.

Our sophomore class is not Big East quality. Bishop is slow. Davis is invisible. Mitchell looks lost. Belton is a non-factor. Wilks is unprepared. McClain is AWOL. These guys have now played 45 games. They look like they have no ball-handling or shooting skills. This 1st half performance is embarrassing.

Lately doesn't mean THIS WEEK. Memphis is 111-13 the past 3+ seasons. UC is 55-53 the past 3+ seasons. Hardly similar, much less "same as UC."

They look like an overachieving mid-major program that will have a couple good games this year when they possibly upset a good team or two. That is the best to hope for for the foreseeable future with this coach.

Memphis is a High Major team. So is UC (but didn't play like it tonight).

If Memphis' fall from the rankings made this game less meaningful, then us laying an egg against them becomes very meaningful. We just got smoked by a meaningless opponent!
