View Full Version : Looks like Trevor Anderson is transferring out...
He apparently wants to go to Michigan State but UC is saying he can't go there. Could get interesting in the near future.

This will be interesting indeed. He is a pro caliber player who will have to sit out a year to go to a school that isn't Michigan State.

I think the Bearcats will find replacements for Anderson and Stewart. Anyone who does not want to be a Bearcat should be released to go else where and play. In my opinion it does not matter what sport they play. I hate to see Stewart not make it academically but I rather see the Bearcats lose him now instead of once the season starts. BK will definitely recruit someone just as good if not better. Go Bearcats!!!

What do you all think of how BK handled the situation. Personally, I like it. Especially in lieu of rumors there may have been tampering, I would not release him to MSU.

"I have never operated on 'Oh, we've lost a guy and woe is me,' " Kelly said. "It's always been, 'That's why you've got 85 guys on scholarship.' " Quote from Brian Kelly

Yes I love the way B K handled the situation.
I 100% agree with it. I don't think players should be released to the former coach anyway, too much temptation by the former coach to bring along guys. After all of his players are out of UC then a player could transfer there, but not before then. Same goes for BK's players at CMU.

I guess I tend to disagree with Brian Kelly. Is winning football games the bottom line? I guess maybe it is in this day and age of big money coaches. But, what about player and character development? Brian Kelly didn't say, "I wish him well and that he finds the right school". He was hostile towards this fellow. These players must feel like they are just disposable spare parts in a money producing machine. It would be interesting to know what started the bad blood between them. I think there is something more to this story.
Are we allowed to insert pictures on this board?
Let's see:
No, I guess not. I can see the advantages and disadvantages.
One advantage is not having to put up with peoples smut.

He is holding Anderson accountable for his actions and is setting a precedent for the team. Trevor lied to him. Kelly said that if Anderson had been straight forward with him, he would have released him to wherever he wanted to go. Going forward, other kids will remember this and know that, if you are not truthful w/coach, you will have to answer to him. Coach has the right to do this. If the NCAA didn't think it was right, there would be a rule (among the 1000's of NCAA rules) against it. Don't treat BK like the bad guy here. All he wants is honesty out of his existing and former players. He's still laying the foundation with these kids and honesty is one part of that foundation. He will be honest with them (which is what I've heard from the many articles about the guy) and he wants the same in return. Like Anderson requested, BK released him to 3 schools close to his parents. I think that's reasonable.

I believe you are right and I believe it has been implied in the reporting. Coach Dantonio has contacted Anderson and persuaded him to transfer. Anderson was not honest about it because I believe it is an NCAA violation on Dantonio's part.
I think BK is teaching Anderson a very good lesson. One shouldn't break rule or be complicit with those who do.
Good for BK!
Go Cats!

Ugh... I thought this place would be Endzone free. Guess I thought wrong...

Mick cheer up. Look on the bright side of life. If you're anywhere near the Cincinnati area you get to eat at all those fine dining establishments there in Cincinnati. They actually have 4 seasons of weather there, and you're in a good football area. Don't be so depressed. I haven't been to Cincinnati in over a year, but I'm getting read for LaRosa's, Skyline, & Frisch's already!
Don't worry, be happy.
I guess UC is serious about student-athletes, and they want their players to have good character. That's a good thing really, but does every coach eventually sell out to the win column? I remember Jim Tressel saying when he got the HC job at Ohio State, "You'll be proud of these players and you'll be proud of them in the classroom too". Yeah, right.

"Endzone free" is more like what our offense was last year.
As for BK, he did the right thing IMO, not releasing him to MSU. Trevor has every right to go there, but he should sit out a year, instead of using "hardship" as an excuse to reunite with his old coaches.
Now, IMO, he did not need to go public with it. What good did that really do?
