Wonders aloud on radio how many illegitimate kids UC basketball players have fathered. This is the same guy that was reprimanded by Mccain for referring to President Obama as Hussein. Of course, he's an X fan.

Cunningham is a great American! Probably brought up the kid thing because he read or heard Williams has a kid.

Not really comparable situations. In fact the issue of Cunningham calling President elect Obama by his full name when it was considered taboo by the liberal media makes me remember how much I love his show and, in my mind, negates the issue of his speculation about our players.

Cunningham is an ***** who makes outrageous statements for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of people.

That said, before this thread gets locked, I gotta say that did find it hilarious when he demonstrated that it's considered hateful to simply say a presidential candidate's REAL middle name.

First, there is no reason to close this thread. We're discussing comments about the basketball team.

Second, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong will calling Obama by his full name! Of course, Cunningham got blasted by the media. Funny thing is, Obama gave him shi! for using Hussein, but he is having his full name read at his inauguration. So, no problem with that....

Third, the comments about the basketball team might be over the top. However, if there are actually 6 illegitimate kids that have been fathered, so what? His comments were negative, but if you're willing to do the deed, be willing to pay the consequence. Should he have said it? No. Is it wrong for him to have said it? Maybe. Am I upset? No.

Wait a minute.... I like Cunningham. Yes, he does say things to get a rise, but he always delivers many facts to form an opinion. You either like him or you don't.... The people that don't like him tend to have a different ideology, so it doens't suprise me that college age kids are speaking out against him.

BC says things to stimulate controversy and calls. It works. That said he often brings up good points. The out of wedlock children (majority of black babies) is destroying the fabric of society. Devine the WVU RB has 4 kids. Our basketball players need to learn what rubbers are and use them. It is rare at Senior Day when a player comes out with his Mom and Dad as opposed to his grandmother and his 2 kids.

It is all an act, it is Bill's "stick", you cannot take anything Bill says on the radio seriously, he says it all for ratings.

Even though I agree with him on many/most political issues, I don't consider him a good ambassador of my views. He seems to constantly reduce arguments to insults and stereotypes, which does little to help anything. I wish he would use his pulpit to advance more developed, more philosophical arguments rather than acting like a bully. Even as villified as a guy like Rush is, at least he does a better job explaining his arguments rather than shouting down the opposition like Willy. Maybe there was a time when trying to whip the right into a frenzy was necessary, but I'm pretty sure that all are already paying attention now, so I don't see the need for him, except as a marginally-entertaining entertainer.

Is it true? That makes a big difference. If you are throwing out random comments that are untrue based on skin color I have a problem with that. If you are speaking about the individuals on the team who really due have the kids then you can make the comment.

Sitting here in St. Louis, 20 years removed from Cincinnati, it still amazes me how conservative Cincy is. Maybe it's the poor schools or the Nazi heritage?

To correct Alum1 - Obama never once complained about anyone using his full name. Get your facts straight.

Agreed. If it is true, then he is justified in saying it. I don't like the fact that he said, "I heard there are x amount of illegitimate kids." Seems like hearsay, and I don't like that one bit. However, if it's true, then I'm not too upset.

Yes, my parents chose my name. I'll gladly let people say my full name when I run for President....

Really? Characterize one "shock jock" as the entire Cincinnati community? Should we ignore the First Amendment and ban comments like this (even if truthful!)? Obama's campaingn and supporters blasted Cunningham for using "propagranda" against Obama.

I don't know. These athletes get pu*** thrown in their face from age 16. I can't honestly say I wouldn't have made a mistake if I were in their position, thinking back to how irresponsible and immature I was at 16. I'm not saying it's not a problem, but I'm not going to hold it over the individuals' heads, either.

Sometimes I think Willies a bafoon, and others I like what he brings to the table. However you can't question his results. That being the fact that he actually got a thread devoted to his show on the bearcats news forum. Like or dislike he is a lightning rod that demands and gets attention.

That all being said...

I totally fault the parenting and the social situations confronting most of these kids. Most have adults and woman/girls hanging on for a meal ticket. It's a way to a better life and they could care less about the well being of the kid. If the most of them weren't so ignorant, they'd realize that keeping their head straight and learning some discipline is the best way to assure their meal ticket. All they can see though is the quickest way to winning the lottery and don't want to actually raise the kid to have a solid long term lucrative future.

Not implying this is in any way the situation of any of the UC players just a common story these days.

Man fellas, this isn't a social commentary forum, broad generalizations such as this have no place here...ESPECIALLY if it has nothing to do with UC players. Really...."Most of them"....really??????? WTF?!?

Without attempting to solve the problems of the world, you do have to wonder one thing. Why is that still UC continues to be the butt of jokes for cheap shots like that?

We are many years removed from the gin-drinking, horse slapping days of old. There are miscreants and trouble makers in any program (example Drew Lavender at X). But, for some reason UC seems to take the brunt of the abuse.

And, you think St. Louis is liberal? I'm also here in St. Louis....15 years for me....and, in a lot of ways, it's more conservative than Cincy, I think.

Actually the group just included people who shows common sense and Cunningham could be included. The old man comment was a mistake because it's a known fact a couple of us are old. Fact is you don't have to be old to have common sense. A 20 year old can have it. I've read in the paper Williams has a kid and I doubt he is married so that is probably what got the whole thing started. This day and age it's common. All kinds of free stuff for the kid if the mom isn't married. Bad subject for me because it's my tax dollars.
