Memphis appears to be absolutely loaded. I cannot recall if Memphis is still on our non-conference schedule. If they are, it should be a home game because UC traveled there last season.

The Big East also appears to be loaded with Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette and Pitt all in the top 14. Interesting to see no mention of several of the traditional Big East powers (UConn, Syracuse, Villanova).

Ohio State was clearly hit the hardest due to early departures. I would love to get them back on the schedule in the next year or two for a little bit of payback for the whooping UC took last season.

Any thoughts on how long before UC cracks the Top 25 again? I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and -- pending on how they end up this year, it's possible they start in the preseason top 25 for the 2008-2009 season?

No way those O$U pussies will be back anytime soon. Maybe if there's a disaster of Marshall-like proportions and we need to go around campus and recruit players they'll show up again. But they don't have the guts to play us straight up. Honestly, 40 years and they pick last year to play with no future trip. It's totally spineless, not unlike their 2007 football schedule.

I on the other hand would not be so quick to desire a rematch with the Buckeyes. I know they lost a TON to the NBA but they are reloading with talent this year and next(2 more 7 footers)...I still have bad dreams about how BAD we looked in the game last year.

My two cents, we will be back in the top 25 when gates and wilks get to campus as diaper dandies. Not that it means anything in reality but it sure looks nice when that little number is next to UC(#whatever) on the score graphic during a broadcast not to mention when recruits are watching us on tv!

Speaking of which, won't these early departures hurt their APR?

A couple of notes. If, and that's a big if, everyone comes in and plays well this year, we might be able to crack the top 25.
As for Ohio State, I have zero respect for them! We asked every year in the 90s to play them and they said no. They see we are down a year and they sign us up. After the game, Matta says they won't schedule us again.
By the way, did anyone catch Greg Oden's quote in SI? When asked about playing in either Seattle or Portland, he said something to the effect of, "That would be great because I know that both are on the West coast and close to Los Angeles. I would like to go to Los Angeles to go to the beach." Hey smart guy, LA's at least 10 hours from Portland and it you haven't checked, there are beaches in Oregon and Washington. Do you mean to tell me this guy actually went to class?
This is where the one year in college rule is bad. That guy had no business being on campus and I'm sure he had a cupcake schedule.

Oden is a very bright young man. LA is a 2 hour plane flight from the Pac NW.

I agree the timing of Ohio State agreeing to play the Bearcats was not good from a Bearcat perspective and great from an Ohio State perspective. They wanted to get revenge for losing two national championships to the Bearcats. There regular season victory will not erase the memory of losing twice to the Bearcats. I believe the two teams will meet again one day in the NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats will be ready to play them at that time and the best team will win.
As far as Greg Oden is concern I to believe he is bright guy too. I personally do not like it when people personally attack individuals they do not know. I would not want any one to do that to me. I do not like it when fans of other schools do that to UC players. I do not think it is right for U C fans to do it to other team's players.
