Adreian Payne Update

According to bearcatlair.com, Payne has narrowed his list of schools down quite of bit but because I am not a member I could not read on. The headline and description makes it seem like we could know fairly soon where he intends to committ. If anyone is a member of bearcatlair.com can you update us on who is considering now?

I linked an article that talked about how Pitt is becoming a big factor. I think our chances are slim but I hope I am wrong.

UD is my guess--remember I said guess. Gregory seems to be getting inside on the Dayton talent and it would not surprise me in getting Payne--they got kids from Trotwood and Thurgood Marshall. I believe in Mick--he will get the players he needs---but it will take some time--patience is the key!

He can't go to Xavier. As of now, he is a 5 star recruit. XU doesnt get 5 star recruits.:rolleyes:

I heard a rumor (note, rumor) from a month ago it was between UC, XU, and Ohio State which would be one of the most interesting recruiting races ever for us.

I'd hate if he ended up at OSU, XU, or Dayton, but I wouldn't want to see him go Big East either (Piit).

I've seen articles he was high on OSU in one, high on and took an unofficial visit to West Virginia and one on Dayton but other than Ralph nothing on UC. It all doesn't mean a whole lot probably. He might meet some ugly girl he can't live without next week, who is going to XU and off to XU he goes. OSU has so many top 50 players already with 3 out of the 2010 coming also I think it would be tough for him to want to fall in behind those players. I say scratch OSU and a Big East team gets the nod.

People I know that have seen Payne seem to say they could take him or leave him. He's extremely athletic, but they say his basketball motor isn't very intense. What's his scoring average? I thought I saw somewhere early in the season that he was averaging less than 10 ppg. Not that impressive.

There have certainly been some questions about Payne's motor and all around skill set at the present.

One thing that most everyone who has seen him play (myself included) is that his athleticism is pretty much off the charts.

I can't speak to "silent verbals" or any of that, but at this stage in the game I am hoping that we have as good a shot as anyone.

He runs the floor well and has good hands. He can also shoot the ball with some range (15ft jumpers). He would certainly improve our team, but he is not a "must" get in anyway. He could get major PT at Dayton and Cincy as a Frosh. He'll get limited minutes at OSU and Pitt, and will see extended minutes as a Soph at both. It should be interesting...

I don't think Dayton is in the game. However, his AAU teammate and good friend (Juwan Staten, top 75 recruit, Dayton Verbal, Thurgood Marshall HS) has been in his ear about UD. Of the 5 possible choices, I think X is last.

I hope it did and will give the benefit of the doubt until we find out otherwise, but I will also hold my excitement. I am also a little worried about Ralph if this doesn't prove to be true.

Its pretty much just a running joke making fun of Ralph because he said Evans would be here about every time he wrote something. He has since switched to "MC has given us a national title contendere with the addition of Riek". But has now decided to pretty logical for a little while.
