I'd move Bishop in for Mitchell. I'm not sure Belton will be back, even if he is, I'd have Toyloy way ahead of him.
i luv yancy 32

i think that is quiet a dazzling line up but i like McClain as the starting center. I have a good friend inside the UC team and he tells me that Anthony is drinking his protein every other hour i mean if he keeps this up he will be unstoppable is the tough big east
PS he drinks EAS MYOPLEX
i luv yancy 32

I think Mick has been trying to recruit players he can go to a full court type pressing defense like Pitino but I don't think he is there yet. Next year looks to be a bubble team year with a pre season pick of 8th or 9th in the Big East. Then it's no key injury and a sneak into the NCAA as the goal. I think Mick has to get to the NCAA next year to save his job. I'm sure he knows that also and will feel the pressure. No NCAA next year the fans will be calling for his head even if the AD isn't. It could all come down to a couple wins or losses by a bucket if UC goes to the NCAA or not. Stress level for UC fans will be high thats for sure.

Mick in no way has to get to the NCAA next season to save his job. The AD understands the difficulty of rebuilding in the Big East, that is why Mick got a 6 year contract to start with. I expect that Mick will get an extension at the end of this season as the team has improved each and every year that he has been head coach.

I may be the biggest Mick fan on this board but i have to agree with Billy Don. Next year we need to be in the NCAA or people will call for his head. I know we should give him 5 years to rebuild but who are we kidding...its Cincinnati Bearcat Basketball..we are different than most colleges..we expect and need to win! So for my boy Mick's sake, i hope he gets us back to the NCAA next year...
Give Mick a lifetime contract, add Hep as an Assistant Coach with a big salary, give Mick the next private suite that is available for use by his family and friends, oh and a big raise, the use of a private jet for recruiting trips.
Considering the job he is doing these are a small price.

People can call for his head all they want but the AD is not going to listen because the AD understands the situation Mick faced to start with. Mick has a 6 year contract and I believe will get an extension at the end of this season.

How do you know what the AD understands Ralph?

I do not understand why someone would make these negative remarks. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation that Mick faced when starting. The media understands, Criqui said UC's arrow is definitely pointing up, Villanova head coach Jay Wright understands, he praised Mick for the job he is doing, Jim Calhoun did the same.

It is almost impossible not to improve from the results that he has had. The question is, has he improved enough? Not in my eyes!

You are always gracious to the coaches whose *** you have just kicked! You certainly don't want them to get fired and be replaced with a coach who will kick your ***.

In the eyes of the silent majority of UC fans Mick is doing a great job and should get a contract extension after this season.

Wow, I think we need to start a "ralph vs long timer showdown on the web" site! ;)
Sorry, I kid...;)
On the topic of the thread, it is hard to gauge or predict the roster for next year without truly knowing who will be here.
Firstly, for IAMWILLIAMSON who started the thread (I like the thread btw), just so you know, Melvin Goins is not the "lock" to come here that people are thinking. And whomever the other point that comes in ends up being will probably be one of the first off the bench (or even start) depending on how game ready Cash is.
For me though, if I HAD to pick a starting five at least?
Cash
Deonta
Copo
Williams(if he gets a 6th)
Yancy
First off bench would be the other PG, Dion and Toyloy.

Oh Globe trotting savant, you are one of the few whose entries add value and are of interest (not like the attention seeking whiney crowd). Can you answer me who the "copo" is and if there might be mafia connections? Also, why no Thomas on your list? Enquiring minds wish to know.

Where have I read this before? Hmmmm...... I can't remember. Oh wait.......that's right. This is the same comment that Ralph has now made 100 times. I'm beginning to believe that Ralph is actually a parrot that has learned to type. Want a cracker?

Firstly, thanks for the compliment. And sure, Copo is Rashad's nickname. Jamual gave it to him last year.
Also, the reason I don't have him as one of the first three (in my mind) yet is that I like to take into account things like him having to sit a year, learning how the offense and defense work in real game situations, things of that nature.
By the end of the year, he very well could be the first off the bench, or even starting. But from day one, that would be in my mind who will be in the main rotation.
If you go look WAY back before the year begins, I also thought it would be a good idea to start Toyloy over Yancy, just to give him a chance to see how the game is moving, what the flow is like. And recently, coming off the bench, his all around production has been generally better. So having Thomas do kind of the same would probably be beneficial.

This blind allegiance is just pathetic. People need to stop allowing this to be used as an excuse. Coaches have started in worse situations and still improved enough to get to the NCAAs (ex: Baylor). The simple fact is that Cronin is in over his head. He is a mid-major coach. As long as you continue to accept all of the excuses, they will continue to be used and the program will be in the same place 3-4 years from now.

Thanks for your thoughtful answer. My confusion arose from thinking you were referring to Bobby Capobianco who committed to Indiana and just had a typo.

I think Mick is a very good coach and great recruiter but.... are you saying he gets SIX years to get to the NCAA tournament?????

For me (and as always just for me) I don't think he will need six years but I definitely think that some latitude would be nice.
Someone on this thread (or maybe another thread) had mentioned Baylor as a worse situation where the new coach came in and is already doing well. To that I would say you (and I am sorry I don't remember at the present who posted the comment) are absolutely correct.
However, as good as the Big 12 can be, and as many high level players they have had (Durant, Beasley etc) there really has never been a conference like the Big East this year. As of our game yesterday their were 8 teams in the top 25 and several knocking on the door. Every game is a potential loss, and it is very unlikely anyone will go undefeated.
From where I sit, I think it is imperative that people calm down and look at where we sit right this second: 14-8 with 9 games left. If we win three of those (which is possible) we are most likely at worst an NIT team which considering we have no true point this year is not to shabby.
IF we can pull out five somehow (and I am not suggesting we will) then we are a bubble NCAA team.
I realize that people have high expectations for this school, I do as well. But I have to be somewhat realistic in the time frame in which those expectations are reached. I think some nights we look like a team that could hang with anyone, and others we look tired, lost, vacant and dead.
But I also am starting to see general individual improvement as well as team improvement, and thats also (for me) none to shabby.
So no, we don't give Mick six years, but if we can all generally agree that year one was a total wash, then in his "second year" with his kids he is above .500 and SHOULD end up over .500 with a birth to the NIT.
Not bad to these eyes.

What other coaches started in a worse place than this besides Scott Drew at Baylor?
Maybe Tom Crean, and that's it....

These threads are so pointless-- who the **** cares about NEXT year's rotation...
How bout we see if THIS team can make noise in the Big East the rest of the way first?
Agreed? Thank you.

Mick has this program going in the right direction. My expectations are as high as anyone else's but I think that if we were to fire Mick after next year that would only set the program back more as the new coach would be placed in a similar position to the one Mick was in during his first year. The best solution i think is to let Mick get some more recruiting classes under his belt because recruiting is his best aspect.
