So, if Nancy Z. is moving on to SUNY, who is in line for the President of UC? What impact will it have on the AD and the sports program? Anyone in the know on potentials or is it too early to know.

Here is one immediate impact. I have gotten private messages from forum members and this particular one is appropriate to share at this moment in time. Believe it or not, fans will start to come back now that her butt is outta here!
Here is the message and I believe there are many more fans just like this one.
Thank you........

Hey Longtimer - just wanted to thank you for your post. I started attending UC events with my Dad before I was even old enough to know, Dad said I was three the first time he took me to both football and hoops. Many of my scrapbook moments that I have now are pictures of me and Dad at either Nippert Stadium or Cinti Gardens/Riverfront Coliseum and later the Shoe. I attended "literally" every football and hoops game from the age of kindergarden to 16 yrs.old with my Dad till I thought I was too cool to be with my Dad. ;-) Flash forward to Bob's first year, it was the first time I had been at a UC event with my Dad since I was sixteen, of course now I was an adult now.
It brought me and my Dad back together and we can both state that we didn't miss ONE HOME GAME for hoops in the entire time Huggins was coach, not one, and we went to many away games also. I think there was four football games we didn't go to, but that is still pretty good considering the football wasn't that good but it was still time I could have with my Dad.
When that crap happened I knew what he would say and it was exactly how I felt and he said it before I could and he said "I will never go to another UC game while that lady is there." And he meant it, and I fully agreed with him. Some people just do not understand the deep emotional bond that a coach can evoke with the fans, and that is what we felt toward Coach Huggins. I miss the times with my Dad and we talk about them a lot and laugh, I feel that because of a personal vendetta that lady broke into my home and stole my memories that I had with my Dad. I just pray that she leaves before my Dad dies (he's now 70 I think or 71) or I will never get another chance to be down there with him.
Your post I will have to say brought a few tears to my eyes because you hit it right on the head and some just refuse to believe and do not understand those that stopped going over something that happened 4-5 yrs. ago. Thanks for your post. :-)
Let's hope this event provides similar closure to a sad period and we can start to restore this program's great tradition.

To answer your question...yes - it is too early to know.
I would imagine this will take some time. I would be surprised if anyone is in place prior to the end of this school year.

The Board of Trustees will more than likely hire someone whose philosophy and vision is very much in line with that of Nancy Z's. Nancy Z's UC/21 is now part of the fabric of the University of Cincinnati and the Board will want to see it continued.
As far as the effect of her leaving on the basketball team, I see nothing of any
significance. Mick Cronin will be the coach of the UC basketball team for many, many years to come. There will not be any McDonald's All-American point guards coming to UC because Nancy Z is no longer the President. They will only come if they want to play for Mick Cronin. As far as attendence and atmosphere at 5/3rd Arena, it is very unreasonable to think that attendence will increase because of her departure. Attendence is down because the bandwagon jumpers have jumped of the bandwagon. The bandwagon jumpers will not jump back on until the team is back in the Top 25 rankings.

The only individual who can accomplish this is Mick Cronin, and he is very much on his way to do so.

Micks umbilical cord just got cut. He is now in the real world. His losing record at UC will come more into play then his being born in Cincinnati does.

Oooooh, good point BD. Didn't think about that one. The next president will not have to stick with Mick forever to save face. He or she may come in and look at the dwindling fan base and losing money and clean house. Very interesting scenario could unfold.

As long as UC hires someone with a brain, they will be able to understand what kind of situation Mick was in when he came here. He should be re-evaluated at the end of next season, maybe even the season after.

As much as I dis-liked Nancy Z, I don't think this has huge relevance to the program. I suspect that the president of a university has biger things to worry about than the basketball or football team.

Let's put it this way, I doubt that one of interview questions for the new president will be "How will you get the basketball program back on track?"

He's got a winning record this year. I don't get your post.
So what if he had a losing record in years 1 and 2, being in the BE and effectively starting from scratch. If he continues to trend up, I don't think he's got anything to worry about.

I think Mike Thomas will have Mick's back as long as the new pres. decides to keep Mike. I don't any reason to let Mike go at the present.
BTW, I'm considering moving this thread to the General forum. So if it disappears you'll know what happened. There was already one Zimpher thread started last night around midnight.

City of Cincinnati will now save some money. Won't have to put the riot squad on alert every time there is a rumor Nancy might appear on fountain square.

Folks I'm going to close this thread and move it. There is already a Zimpher thread going in the general forum about this that you can post in and this is not truly a basketball related issue.
