I am going to run a series of football related polls on Bearcatnews.com (http://bearcatnews.com). The first is today. Predict who you think will with the 2007 Big East championship.

I hope your poll does NOT take into account the statistical adjustments needed for a poll on a biased website. How anyone can vote for a team other than the BEarcats boggles my mind.

Go Cats!

Are we voting for who we want to win or who we think will win? If you think UC will win I will bet you $500 and give you 2-1 odds. Since you think they wuill win, I am offering you double money since it should only be 1-1.

And I hope I have to pay, but I doubt it. :D

Outside of UC, the top 2 vote getters for the 2007 Big East championship poll are West Viriginia and Louisville. Time for the next poll. Who will be UC's starting QB for the 2007 season?

I was the 4th of 4 to vote for Mauk, but I still think we should not overlook Grutza. We easily dismiss what he did in Dantonio's offense behind a weak offensive line. We forget that this is the offense he played in in HS too (like Mauk). He has no issues with the intelligence factor required to make quick reads and throws. An he is mobile and can run.

I read over and over where many have simply written him off and I expect it to be very close and I would be one of the few NOT super surprised if Grutza wins the competition or if they split time, but if I am betting, I give the slight edge to Mauk right now.

It's a new week.. I think UC has a great opportunity this year, but it is a new coach and a new system so we'll see how quickly the adjustment is made(having the bowl prep last year surely helped). We need the defense to play at just as high a level as they did last season. I have WVU winning the conference and think they will be in the National Title Race all season. They are a damn fine football team.

I went with Mauk as the QB...i think it is basically his job to lose. I think Grutza's biggest issue is he does not throw the deep ball very well. If you lack arm strength and do not throw the deep ball you tend to be prone to ints. Grutza's accuracy has always been pretty good in the short passing game...the problem is the ones he does not compete tend to because someone reads the play and makes the pick. If you can stretch the field it is much harder to defenders to make those picks in the short passing game. We'll see how it ends up

Well, it looks like Ben Mauk is the prohibitive favorite amongst the Bearcatnews.com community to be the starting QB. Onto the next poll.

How many games will you attend in person during the 2007 season?

To see the results of previous polls, go here (http://www.bearcatnews.com/polls/pollresults.php).

There appear to be a wide range of answers regarding how many football games fans will attend in person. If UC gets off to a good start, I suspect that there will be quite of few who will jump on the bandwagon and come down to Nippert for a game or two.

Next poll and it aligns with the recent brew-ha-ha regarding local media coverage of the Bearcats.

Excluding Bearcatnews.com, where do you primarily go to read or hear more about UC football?

I am purposely excluding Bearcatnews.com so that we can get a feel for where folks go to get additional information about UC football.

I am also including an Other option. If you vote "Other" please reply in this thread with your sources.
