Any one know of any new possibilities? Seems like people over on NCAAbbs know something they don't want to tell. Somehow, though, I can't imagine everything is a done deal like they make it sound. Only name I can think of is Jones, who still has IU at the top of his list.

I had mentioned the name Andre Clark, 6'9 forward out of Arkansas who was supposed to be taking the ACT this week and may be eligible this year. I saw something on a Scout article. Some of the other guys on the forum state he still has a list of 10 schools. I have no inside information, just came upon it as I was looking at the free articles. Supposedly he is playing really well right now and rapidly climbing the rankings.
OK, OK...It's me, I still have two years of eligibility left, and Mick was looking for a 56 year old 5'-9" "power point guard"!

Jones doesn't make sense because he's an '08 kid. My impression from Mick's "plan b" comment was this is a kid for '07 that could step in if Henry is inelligible.

just do the lazelle durden route, bring him back as a sophmore.
you can not dismiss him because he did not make the grade.

The thing about a backup plan is the player would already have to be eligible. So that eliminates Jones (08), Clarke (08), Bost (reclassifing to 08). It has to be someone already ready to go.

we are talking about a 6-7, 1-2-3 player with
a pro future, i would rather see him here, even
if we got too wait a year. i think it would be worth
the wait. a better player

English please?
I forgot Jones was '08. I guess that throws him out.

The player has possibly been reclassified from '08 to '07 and made the grade. They would be available to UC if Henry doesn't qualify.

It seems that the backup plan talks have picked up recently. Has it gotten any more likely that Henry will not qualify since we last heard?
Also, why hasn't McClain been at the Deveroe's Summer League? I'm assuming he's not here yet, but why is that?

McClain will be here.
Also, the backup plan will be here at some point too.
Jason is not going to make it academically.

Hey Mick's Da Man,
Rumor has been circulating that the "backup plan" is Darnell Wilkes, he will be eligible for this year as opposed to next. Do you know if this correct, if not, can you comment on who it is/might be? The suspense is killing me.

Wilks makes sense considering that he just graduated in 2007 and could come here next year.

I think it would be great if we could get Wilks for the entire season, I wouldnt really want him to go the Bill Walker route but it wouldnt kill me. Too bad for Henry he seemed like he could have contributed. When will the official word come out? If McClain is going to be in the summer league do we know when?

Wilks is originally from Missouri but went to the school in Tennessee to improve his academics (among other reasons).
That part sounds logical to me.

Not sure about the Wilks scenario. However I have heard that McClain will indeed be suiting up for Slats the second week of July after he finishes up his academic obligations so he can be eligible next year.

Well, I hope we have a backup plan for Mitchell as well. Apparently he committed to Alabama. Darius Miller maybe? Luckily, I think we have a little more leeway at the SF position.

back up plan, does that mean mick is going too give up on the kid?
mick does have williamson and bishop plus he always has the 3 guard set up.

UC is on Miller's list but Kentucky and Tennessee are on top of it (right now).

According to Bearcat Banter, the backup plan fell through.
But now they say Mick had a backup plan for the backup plan. (sarcasm)

As Oscar Robertson only played 3 years of varsity basketball the back up plan is to petition the NCAA for a 4th year of eligibility for Oscar.

In his 68th year, I'm confident that he would still be an upgrade over Ron Allen.

Ron Allen is a fine young man. He graduated on time. He was a decent player off the bench. No reason for the disrespect shown to him. None.

the only reason why ron allan did'nt play much is;
williamson is a wing forward, mick had the option
of the 3 guard line up.plus he could put a bigger
stronger football player too plug in at center.

Not true... A 6'9'' basketball player should play the center better than a 6'4'' football player. Ron just wasn't that great of a player. That being said, I appreciated his effort and intensity when he was in the game.

Ron Allen may be the nicest young man in the world, and I am happy for him that he got a chance to play college basketball, and earn a college degree, but if anyone here thinks he was a quality division 1 player, at any position on the court, they need a lot of help understanding the game. And I am not even going to say that with 2 days of practice the 68 year old Oscar would bury him in a game of "horse."
Ron was a PR stunt. A "feel good story" in the wake of Katrina, and nothing more.

Speaking of Jason Henry's backup plan, I am hearing now that the backup plan has fallen through??? What's the word (or scuttlebut) on Henry? Anything definite yet? Also, if the "backup plan" has fallen through, can someone who knows, give us the name. I don't see what it will hurt and I would definitely like to know. Also why the plan fell through.
Also, anyone know who we play out-of-conference yet. Are we playing 30 games this year? Any tournaments? If we play 30 games, that would be 12 OOC games and 18 BE games right? Help me out...Thanks.

jason henry is the most important link in next years sussess,
if williamsons knees are cronic. bishop or alvin mitchell is the most
likely choice using a 3 guard sceame.

Not that I disagree with you, but you say this like it is fact. Do you have some knowledge that the rest of us don't? If so, do you know when it will be confirmed? I know it definitely sounds as if he isn't going to make it. I hope he proves everyone wrong, or at least Mick has a solid backup plan like he mentioned in the interview.

I think he spends too much time attending quilting bees. How can you expect to have top notch academics when you attend quilting bees? He better make a choice soon.

Mick deserves a little credit for getting the Adidas' It Takes 5IVE tournament on campus. In my mind, it is like having campus visits by a slew of top recruits. The paper said 13 of the top 150 recruits were on campus.

My wife focused on her interest in quilting while at Utah State in 1969 and 1970 instead of her studies. She wound up without her degree but with me instead.
Word to the wise. Studies are more important than quilting.

I don't think that had anything to do with Cronin. It was the athletic department's choice of switching to Adidas that allowed for it to happen. UC also will be the host to the adidas football combines in the future. Staying with Nike would never have afforded either of these options because Ohio State gets all of the local Nike events.

It seems to me that Mick was instrumental in making the switch to Adidas. It seems I remember articles talking about the relationships he has developed with leaders of the Adidas camps.
I'm not sure how many other schools are aligned with Adidas, but I think it took more than just signing up with them.

Over on the NCAAbbs board they are reporting that BCL is reporting that UC has signed their backup plan guy and he is so highly rated that this should jump UC's class into the Top 10. Anyone care to reveal any names if this is true?
