Now I know I've been a major downer on this team, but I did find something interesting. If I understand the correct format of the tourney, there may be some good news.
If we finish in our current spot at 9th, we would play Depaul first. A game we SHOULD win. If the current standings stand pat, we would then play the 8 seed? If so, that's West Virginia, a winnable game. I'd much rather play WV than Syracuse again. With that said, my point of only making the big dance by winning out and winning 2 games in the Be tourney may be our only way of getting in looks very feasible. Let's just hope we don't draw Syracuse in round 2.
Should this scenario play out, that would give UC 22 wins. Even though I still think overall the wins on our resume is a bit weak, I don't know how you keep a team out with 22 wins while playing in the BE.

I think I'd rather UC have another shot at Syracuse. We've already beaten West Virginia, so it's kind of a no-win scenario and it would be nice to show the selection committee that Yesterday's debacle was an outlier.
I'd *really* rather play Providence, but I'm not sure I see that happening.

Not trying to pick a fight bro...but when did you make this point? Every post of yours that I have seen has said that we are delusional to think that UC has any shot at all and that this team is not any good.
I do agree with this post though. I even think we have a legit shot by winning out and then winning only 1 in the conference tourney. Then again, that one win over Depaul doesn't seem like it would add a whole lot to the resume.

You are catching on! I don't think anybody here thinks UC's resume has ever been AMAZING, however, comparing it to others and what we have left, we have a legit shot.
UC assured of 9th place as ND falls hard at home to Nova (77-60). Even if UC losses 2 and ND win last one, we win tie breaker. If GU and SH also win out we win tiebreakers.

^this point has been brought up way before matt brought it up, mostly by those members of this forum that had a relative idea of what it would take to get in!

But even one loss and we're likely not going to make the NCAA anyway without winning the BE tourney.

^just saying while you were continuing with your we will never get in rants, many on this board stated what they thought it would take to get in, and poof, out of no where you claim this idea as your own, because i have yet to see a post from you that claims you made this point before!

I'm sorry you didn't catch my claim to this point, that's unfortunate, I did however make that claim. I simply stated, the ONLY way this team gets in is with a 4 game winning streak, MINIMUM. Because some of you out there think we can simply beat SH and USF and we're in.... I highly doubt that to be true, we need more substance, especially after sunday's performance.

and p.s. you're welcome. You should try and put your mom in a headlock, it's quite fun.

I don't think UC's resume' is amazing. But nor do I think it is bad. They have no bad losses and most of those losses came against teams that have been ranked atleast once in the top ten of the top 25.
UC wouldn't have to play a team of that caliber until like the sweet sixteen. The other 25-35 teams would be beatable based on the fact that UC has basically stuck with everyone except for the blowout to Marquette where they shot unbelievably from three point range or the recent blowout to Syracuse. UC played UConn and Louisville respectably, and played Pitt about as well as the rest of the conference. UC has a second half meltdown at Villanova, but so have other teams. UC has proven to be exactly what they are.........a middle of the pack Big East team. But a middle of the pack Big East team is far better than most of the teams in the country, IMHO.
I still think the Big East should get 9 teams in. Seriously. Maybe I'm a homer, but I look at the at-large bids probably to be handed out and see UC playing with all of them and beating most of them.

Easy there Matt. As your picture already displays, I'm sure your mom is quite familiar with the "Gumby slip."
Don't worry ya'll, just a little inside joke....
As for our Tournament chances.........I'm glad Matt has come around to logical thinking. UC gets into the conversation with 3 straight wins, and guarantees a bid if we get 4 straight wins. Of course, if our only win in the BET comes as the #8 seed, I still like our chances........

Barring a WVU collapse, we just locked up the 9th seed. So the first game will be against DePaul, second game vs WVU or 'Cuse. I'd rather play 'Cuse because we have the recent revenge motivator (I hope?) then we're looking at Uconn, Pitt or Louisville at the #1 seed for their first game. I think I like my chances with Pitt, and we would most likely meet another one in the semi-finals, I don't see Marquette recovering from their loss, possibly 'Nova slips in? Then meet another one of them in the finals. Here's wishin' for three miracles. Then we can nominate Mick for sainthood!

You'd rather play 'Cuse than a WVU team we've beat? Not that it matters if this team can't get past SFU.

I think he's delusional following the loss to USF. He must not have watched the game Tuesday night. They are likely to beat DePaul, but that's about it.

Hey, I'm not saying we have a good shot winning those games. If we are to win them, I'd rather beat the teams I listed.
