Anyone think he will be dumb enough to do that again? Maybe he should concentrate on controlling his own team before he worries about calling out writers for ESPN.

Did Mick really go out of his way to "call out" Lunardi, or was a question posed to him regarding Lunardi? You think he pays attention to Lunardi's stupid website?

Obviously he must pay attention to Lunardi's stupid website. Otherwise he wouldn't have so much information to come back with.

I think it's stupid to worry about opinions from sports writers. 100% focus should be on the team.

2 years in a row mc opened his mouth and then proceeded to play their way out of the tourney.

Doing it one year, ok, he was young. 2 years in a row? Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

My thoughts exactly. After watching the team on Saturday, I would prefer he spend his time and energy on the team. The rest will take care of itself.

Actually you are wrong, and annoying. He was asked a question about the Lunardi only having 7 teams in the tournament. At the time, Syracuse was 8th. He used them as an example to explain how tough the league is.

Pretty much, you don't know what you are talking about.

When things are going good...everyone is sooo quick to Praise Mick's efforts!! Then when things go bad everyone bashes him...Come on....I have an idea...stick with the guy or don't stick with him at all. Too many hypocrites on this site. I'm kinda sick of it...You guys call yourselves Bearcat Fans??

Are you kidding me?? Wow...I don't think you are the sharpest tool in the shed. You think by him saying something about the NCAA tournament caused his team to lose at South Florida? It has not thing to do with it...his team just had an off night and they didn't play well...

Of course it is his responsiblity to make sure that doesn't happen. Especially now that his team have done it the last two years. Responding to a ESPN reporters blog is not his responsiblity and make him look stupid when he can't get his team to perform.

I know Mick looks really stupid for ranting about that when he can't get his team to play good. You'd never seen Coach K, Bobby Knight, Huggs, Calipari, or any other good coach get caught up in something that stupid.

Are you joking? Those coaches rail against the media all the time. Honestly, as much as you are obsessed with Huggins, you would think you would let it go since Mick has now beat him twice. I guess not.

And they back it up. Mick didn't and evidently you didn't get the memo that you need to back it up if you are going to talk smack. Otherwise, you look stupid.

Again Huggs has a final four, an elite eight and over 500 wins - what's Mick got? Instead you want to look at two meaningless games in the regular season because that is all Mick has.

You had me until you mentioned "Huggs" than all your credibility was completely lost. Huggs spent more time in timeouts chewing out the refs and his own players than he did actually implementing an offensive play or change. He was the king of doing nothing and bumbling big games away. Maybe that's where Mick learned it........from his mentor, also known as God by some on this board.

They don't always back it up. Huggins was a perennial choker. That final four was A LONG time ago and the program was only going downhill when he left. The fact that you can't move on is embarrassing for you.

Who looks stupid? Take a look in the mirror, dude. One frickin' final four and 2 Elite Eights IN 500 WINS???????????????? He should have triple that. Give me a break.

What a dumb comparison. Mick has what.........6 seasons under his belt and Huggs has like 25?????????????? Atleast Huggs was left a veteran team at UC with Starks, Banks, Robinson, and Tate, in a far, far, far easier conference.

Comical.

While that may be true, he wasn't dumb enough to call out reporters when he couldn't back it up and he still is a very good coach.

He called out reporters all the time. Even at K St all he did was say how they should be in the tourney and anyone that didn't agree was wrong. He was wrong.

Honestly, go root for WVU.

Again he has consistently had his teams in the tourney. Mick is calling our reporters and then falling apart yet again.

Again, it doesn't change the fact that Mick is backing up his smack and looks stupid. You are trying to spin it towards Huggs because you can't defend Mick's talking smack and not backing it up.

His criticism would carry a lot more weight if he could take care of his own business. It is like the head of one of the big investment firms that failed telling us what is wrong with the financial system.

So it doesn't make sense that you should back up your smack if you are going to talk it. Mick needs to take care of coaching his team (something he has failed to do down the stretch for the last two seasons). Instead he talks smack about a guy who record of predicting the tournament bracket is much better than Mick's record.

He didn't talk smack about UC. He talked smack about Syracuse being worthy of the NCAA Tournament. Looks like he was pretty smart to me.

I guess you need to read things and understand what was said before you start talking smack, huh?

He talked smack after he was asked about UC being in the last four out and only 7 teams being in at that time. In fact he recommend Lunardi get the Full Count package. Reading is fundamental. And since then Mick has let the team get away from him. Maybe he should address his team with the same attention he gives to ESPN writers.

I guess according to Rob, Calhoun's outburst against the media will be the downfall of UConn this year and if they don't win the title it will be because of the outburst. I guess Calhoun is not the sharpest tool in the shed either for dealing with media questions.

Yes, but his response was Syracuse would win the A-10, he still looks like a genius. Did Lunardi take Mick's advice and get the Full Court package?

Look, I thought it was dumb to do as well. Pointless, anyway. Mick always says he won't worry about things he can't control (like the lack of attendance, for example) and that he will just focus on things he can - preparing his team to win. He should have taken his own advice on this.

But do you really believe this had any effect on the team? I mean, he said it and then we went out and beat WVU in what was a huge must win game at the time. Didn't seem to effect them there.

Also, RobPoppeil, why do come on now and blast Mick? Where have you been the whole season? Where were you for the Georgetown wins, the ND win, the WVU win? Come on, man. If you just like stirring up trouble, fine, I get that. But really, we were all pissed last night. That game and the Cuse game were unacceptable. But they weren't the only games this year. We're making progress even without our PG. Have a little perspective.

Going back to what Ralph mentioned earlier in another thread that Coach K was 11-17 in his third year at Duke....here's a couple more third year coaches... Dean Smith at UNC (12-12), Jim Calhoun at UCONN(18-13, NIT Quarterfinals)...and I'm not sure but I doubt they came into a situation like Mick's.

I'm sure the people who are bashing Mick would be calling for these three coaches' heads too. I know the majority of people on here support Mick, this is more for the people who continually bash him for not having UC back to "the glory days" already.
