With all the great Big East games on prime time ESPN TV just think what a big recruiting tool that is. You just know there are recruits who can see themself playing in MSG for the Big East on prime time TV. The Big East is getting 80% of all the conference highlights coverage. High school kids are right now dreaming of playing in the Big East. Tonight will be more of the same!

Or, ESPN is getting the Big East out of the way to focus on the ACC and Big Ten this weekend! Like they do every year.

Well they now have 8 Big Ten teams making the NCAA tournament and only 7 Big East teams. How bad is that?

Makes you wonder why we are only getting the kind of talent that we have on our roster today doesn't it?

All I know for sure is the Big East took in a ton of talent out of the 2009 class and will have to be delt with next year and thereafter. Sure looks like we lost ground in talent on paper at least.

UC has never won a game in the BET. It was not even on TV this year in the BET, thankfully. So, the BET and ESPN have not exactly been a recruting tool for UC.

Gates, Dixon, and Wright were Cronin's last recruiting class. Do you see something wrong with their level of talent?

no. cash doesn't play & book still out on gates and dixon. but it does say a lot about the talent & leadership surrounding them

The problem is they are the only one's on the team that have Big East Talent!!! Vaughn is pretty good also...ha

I'm less concerned about the Big East getting 7 (which I think is appropriate) than I am the Big Ten getting 8 (which is utterly ridiculous -- I think they are "worthy" of 4, maybe 5).

So, yes, it is bad should the Big Ten get more than 5...

Actually the "prime time" game on Saturday evening is the BEast final. I know the others conclude on Sunday (don't they?) but that runs right in to the selection show and I'm not sure how much attention they get.

if the small eleven is deserving of 8 tourney bids, then the bearcars are deserving. and clearly that isn't the case.
agree with u jersey, 4 or 5 worthy small eleven teams tops.

I guess my (poorly stated) point was that the Freshman recruiting class was better than the Sophomore class, which was better than Cronin's first class (Vaughn being the notable exception).

We'll see what happens with next year's class, but I think there's plenty of reason to be optimistic.

that our game was not on TV. Any high energy kid would have been turned off.

Two more big time college Big East basketball games on prime time ESPN tonight! Two of the top 4 active coachs in college basketball wins in Boehiem and Huggins will be going against each other. Anyone thinks Syracuse will roll over and play dead because of being tired from last nights game better think again. Syracuse beat WV by 13 just recently so WV has 13 points to make up. UL wins games with defense sometimes but Villanova has the great guards. The ESPN guys had a love fest with Huggins last night. It was Huggins defense this and Huggins that all night. I don't think Jamie Dixon was mentioned all night.

Coach K. Roy Williams. Bill Self. Rick Pitino. Jim Calhoun. Billy Donovan. There's 6 of the best.

Boeheim and Huugs are in the next tier (Top 10 to 15 range).

You are one of my favorite posters because you know college basketball. I know you are purposely picking arguments. With your college basketball knowledge, I know there is no way you truly believe there are eight teams in the Big Ten that deserve bids.

Eight Big Ten teams means that lousy conference would get 73% of its teams in the tournament, while the Big East at seven teams would be getting 44% of its teams in.

The Big East is getting the shaft and has since it went to 16 teams, never getting more than half its teams in the tournament.
