View Full Version : So we still have a shot at Willie Warren

When I heard that he committed to Baylor I just assummed he wasn't going to be a Bearcat. I have read a lot about how he narrowed his list down to Kansas and Texas but it seems that we are still in the running. I saw this on the recuiting page of Bearcatnews and they said he was a 4 in interest. He is very highly thought of around the recuiting sites. I believe he is the #8 overall recuit accourding to Rivals. This would be a huge prize, so my question is what do you guys think of Warren from what you read do you think we have a legitimate shot and if he does commit what would he bring.

He has already committed to 3 other schools. Why not us. LOL
His mom heard that he committed to Baylor from a media guy, when she heard that she said.."My son talks too much, and I'm taking his cell phone".
I thought KY was in the mix as well?

UK is among his 5 or 6 schools (at the moment). UK has already landed 3 different PG recruits this year for 2008, 2009, and 2010 classes.

If Mick can land Warren this will be the biggest recruit UC since Dermarr Johnson. In fact I'd say Johnson, Wingfield and Fortson are the only players in the past 20 years to be as highly rated. I hope Mick puts the full court press on him.

I think we will hear a lot about Willie. He seems to like seeing his name in print so I imagine he will come down to the wire.

Warren was ready to "commit" to UC in 2004 (as HS frosh) so he must like the Bearcats.

I think getting someone like Warren is now a must with all the scholarships to fill in light of losing out on Mitchell, Bost, Wlaker, and don't forget Henry.
I hope some of you know something when you say Mick has his foot in the door of a lot of good players but they sure aren't showing up on the high interest list nor are we hearing anything in the rumor mill. Unless you count Warren and Miller which would be awesome replacements for Walker/Bost and Mitchell.
I just don't hear people talking about these guys (Warren and Miller) like they were talking about the other guys. Is it starting to look like we might have to go Juco, hold a scholly for 09' or is it still way too early?
Unless Henry comes in 08' that's a lot of scholarships to fill with no serious rumors flying about top 100 talent.

My sentiments exactly. I have gone from very encouraged as we heard of all the possabilities and probable May/June committments to seeing all the big names commit elsewhere and taken off the board. I am concerned yet solidly behind Mick and his efforts. It just sure would be nice to see some positive developments. Its time we start getting earlier commits from top quality kids rather than late commits from kids who were viewed as too risky by other majors.

Entertaining and refreshing means Cincinnati has a better chance of landing that kid more than anybody, plus you have to throw Huggins in the mix too.
do not be surprized if West Virgina steals him away from us.
Ask yourself a top 50 player, on a team that just has top 50 players, being the 13th guy that never
getting much playing time, or play for a team with needs?

Rarely do players of that caliber lack self-confidence. Ask any one of them 1-13 and to a man each will tell you he is the best player on the team.

Is this kid a combo guard or is he strictly a shooter?

That was a pro dunk, but in college its a charge 70% of the time.

don't want a showboater like that on UC's team... and he elevates because he uses his left hand to push up.

Yeah because Melvin Levitt and Kmart never did anything of that nature. The helicopter did that a couple times. His most famous dunk ever he wrapped his legs around a guy and I remember Kmart dunking in the crosstown shootout and the flexing into the camera. I will take Warren on my team.

Brandon Jennings
Jennings is a point guard, Is Mick recruting him? It would be great if we could land both of those kids for 08....

Thegreatone - I remember both those dunks... I guess those to me were "ok" since they were already on UC's team. :)

our players never showboat. They get excited and pump up the crowd. Their players always showboat and are arrogant. It all may look the same, but we know the difference.

I don't think UC and Jennings have a future together.

I agree...better he is on our team than someone elses. We can always bench him:) Actually I prefer to have at least one guy that is a little cocky and not afraid to intimidate a little. It gives our team energy and usually creates a little uneasiness for the other team. Intimidate...Dominate...Celebrate!

Care too elaberate? The kid can shoot any where behind the ark? Does any body know where he is going? Do tell....
He seems like a Devon Downey type 5-8 speedy, seems like a perfect fit.
Is he a bad kid?

He's going elsewhere. UC not on his final list.
