I've never been to one of these. Is the food worth it? How long is the ceremony?

I went about ten years ago when they had Martin, Brannen, Demarr, etc. and I loved it as a kid...

I don't really remember the food because I was in awe of the players at the time.

Let me get this straight...spend 40 dollars for a couple hours looking at and hearing from the people that gave half *** effort? The same crew of clowns that make me physically ill to look at? Shouldn't they be paying me to go? I guess they don't understand that my 5,000 dollars will go elsewhere next year. What an insult!

Um, they aren't forcing you to go. You won't lose your lower section seats if you don't fork over the $40. Where's the insult?

I assume Ralph and all the Mick loyalist will buy a full table for $500 to celebrate the achievement of his first winning season.

The insult is that they are charging anyone at all after the effort that was put up...I don't know, maybe I'm missing something

They're trying to make the mad people madder so they don't show up and protest.

Banquets are just dumb. Coaches and players a like do not want to do these things. It's no different then shaking hands after a game. It is just something everybody does.

KU's was only $12 last year after winning a national championship - no food though. $40 is crazy. Really, is this UC Marketing making the decisions or the AD?

Someone with half a brain. There MIGHT be fifty people that pay for this banquet.

Please close this. We can't even have a damn banquet thread without it being dragged into negativity.

Spending $40 to attend a banquet isn't exactly a positive thing. Don't blame the people who find that to be ridiculous, blame the UC officials who decided to charge $40. Charging that kind of money is a joke.

So for all of you guys piling on the UC Basketball program for its handling of the banquet, would you have gone if it was free or $5???????

Jeff, opinions are like hemorrhoids...........................

If you don't like the opinions, don't read em.

Just like commenting on the happenings in Washington, it's discussion.

I agree, don't go to the banquet. Last years was delayed until April I think.

Some thanks again - try to take more money from the supporters. There is a pattern of unconcious price increases that show zero supporter care. If they keep this up - you will see a drop in support next year.

$40 for a banquet isn't much at all. You get dinner, drinks, etc. $40 isn't much more than a high school sports banquet.

I think some of you need to get out a little bit and realize not everything in life is free! Or at least not yet.........hahahahhahahah

Agreed. Its more the principal to me. If I lived in Cincy, I would probably pay the $40 and go. But, having high prices and raising prices when the team is not performing is a recipe for disaster. Just ask the Kansas City Chiefs. Made it to first round of playoffs one year, raised prices rediculously even knowing that they were rebuilding and were going to suck and many many season ticket holders bail.

Its simple business. You improve the product and the demand before you raise the price.

Its not the basketball team's or Cronin's fault. Its someone higher up and I don't get the thought process behind it.

My only point is that most on here wouldn't be going anyway no matter what the price so why is there so much discussion about the cost.

I question the "supporters" comments comments. Attendance would show differently. You'd never see Rupp half empty. Bloomington sold out this season. Louisville has always been near the top in attendance even when down. I don't think there are near as many Bearcat supporters on here as some claim. It's the program that matters. Xavier understands that. I wish U.C. and it's fans would too.

The problem with attendance is simple. All the schools with all the high attendance don't have pro sports in the same town and most don't have any in their state.

There is a few like Marquette basketball and USC football that compete very well and others but for the most part the schools with big time attendance like Kentucky are in small college towns.
