Only 2 scolly players who aren't either seniors of freshman...basically the 2 lost recruiting years

Good point. The loss of many of the 2005 recruits due to coaching changes and few 2006 (HS or Prep) recruits as a byproduct of that.

The 2005 recruits were not stiffs. Nor were the 2006 recruits. Huggins and Kennedy signed the former. Cronin signed the latter.

Devon Downey was super. Would have loved to see him develop over 4 years. Ced was servicable on his good days. Last year showed the flaws in his game when he was not surrounded by a couple of go-to players. Then there was Ivan - addition by subtraction with the issues he exhibited before getting the boot from Oregon's squad. Petrinella averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds per game for Virginia last year. The other three guys are now playing in JUCO or D-II for various reasons but none of them were Big East players.

We have 8 players that are 6'6" or taller. Six of those players are new to the roster this year - Belton, Bishop, Wilks, McClain, Hrycaniuk, Mike Williams.

Sikes and Williamson are the only returning "size" from last year's roster.

I'd say that's an improvement.

...and, 4 whose last names start with a "W", 3 with an "M" and 2 with a "B". How many other teams can say that?

Kidding aside, I remember when we had 4 guys 6'9" or taller with Martin, Tate, Fletch and Demarr on the same team. I think Mick has to be happy building a team with size again.

Word is that McClain is clear and will be here in the next 2 weeks. Also, word is that Henry is officially out. Will not be an official release on either. Take it for what it's worth, but that's the concensus talk going around...

when will McClain arrive?

He is scheduled to be in during this week - this weekend at the latest.

Definitely improved over 2007. Much more depth, more talent, more experience, more height = more W in 2008.
