First of all, I think Cincinnati has a lot of good high school football teams and players.

I know that as a fan I cannot contact in any way a player to influence their college choice.

Can I attend a HS game wearing Bearcat gear? (Yes)

Can I organize a group to attend a HS game wearing Bearcat gear? (I think so)

Can that organized group sing the Bearcat fight song? (getting more fuzzy, but I think so)

I like football, it is the best time of the year, HS, college and NFL. I wish the local players well, even if they go to Florida or Ohio State, and somewhat follow them in the pros. I wish some of these guys would stay in their hometown and have a chance to play for the "National Championship".

Other than attending on Sat (kids do look at the crowd sizes) What can I do as a fan to better the program's chance at getting some of these players?

Coach Kelly has answered this:

1. Join ucats for as little as $50.

2. Buy season tickets.

3. Take someone to the game.

Many, I repeat many, high school fans and players would be very put off by anyone singing the fight song of any college! The spotlight is on the high school - it's their night to shine. Wouldn't you feel like an ***** singing some Bengals song at a UC game? (that is, if the Bengals had a song that wasn't, by definition, lame)
Don't embarrass yourself or UC by trying to sing the UC fight song at an Elder/X game - you might just get your butt kicked to boot :D

I agree that singing the fight song may not be the best idea, but I like the thinking. Several years ago I persuaded 6 friends to get season tickets with me. This year we have 21 people in our group with tickets. We are also trying to find a good spot to tailgate on Saturdays, just to help add to the fun and excitement (any ideas anyone? We would usually just go to Christy's).

Until the team starts scoring 40+ every game and winning 9+ games each year, we the fans need to jsut keep promoting UC football to others and drag someone there each week. I'm sure most of us on here are doing more than our part....and I have faith that Coach Kelly and the team will do their part very soon.

The lot right next to the Edwards building is a great tailgating atmosphere. You have to buy the pass, but with a group of people it's worth it.

A large group of us have been tailgating for the last couple of seasons off of Daniels Street. It is next to the school, cost to park is reasonable and our group (say 50 or so) continues to grow. We hope to see you all out in the lot with us...the more TVs and grills the better!

GO BEARCATS!

That's the Sheilds school lot. I plan on tailgating there this year also. I took a few folks to the Rutgers game last year and I now have a small group that wants to come to a few games. I plan on playing up the tailgating aspect of it. You are right that parking is reasonable and it is an easy walk to the game.

We tailgate in the lower lot on campus, across from the apartment buildings. down from Holy Grail. $20 per game and and it is a great atmosphere. Been there for 4 years. Not sure if passes are still available or not.

I know it's not the same thing as me and 5 buddies wearing Bearcat gear and singing Cheer Cincinnati during a Princeton/Moeller game, but...
My high school alma mater's band does the OSU script Ohio thing some times. Sure would be nice if UC could begin to integrate themselves into some high schools like that.
