I know I will take a pounding for this, but with Jamelle Elliott here I am hoping our women's team makes some serious strides. Those steps can begin with recruitment of Ms. Ohio Basketball.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090520/SPT0301/905210356/1055/NEWS/Ms.+Basketball+Hackney+asks+for+release+from+USC

Kendall Hackney has asked for release from USC and it would be nice if she stayed home. Female athletics in Greater Cincinnati is pretty darned good compared to other regions, and this could be start of opening pipeline for these girls to stay closer to home.

I know most men's teams would beat the top women's teams and the game is definitely different to watch, but I am hoping Jamelle brings a small slice of the success to our Lady Cats that she was a part of at UConn.

NOTE to ADMINs - please don't move this thread to General Forum as this is a basketball thread, though not in the traditional sense.

I think that I saw that the number one player in greater Cincinnati is going to X.

Does anyone care about woman's basketball at UC? If not for Title IX would there be a team?

I opened this thread thinking it was some sort of joke. I can't believe it's actually about some womens basketball team. Please never let this happen again.

Yeah....let's all be manly and show no interest in the women's team.

Don't respond if you don't care. It's that simple.

It never ceases to amaze me how folks want threads moved or closed because they don't like them. If you don't want to talk women's hoops, like me, then just bypass this thread. I came in here thinking it was a joke as well but since it really is about women's hoops, I'll just not open it again. No need to start whining.

I am also not interested in womens hoops. Yet if UC had a very good team I would take my daughter to a few games.

Sad commentary. LOI period ended yesterday and all we have to disgust is women's BB.

JerseySean I spelled it disgust not discuss, just for you. Plus I thought it was a nice commentary.

Living in the Hartford, CT area I have been fortunate to see how compelling Women's BB can be. I hope Coach Elliott can make the Bearcats competitive in the Big East and would love nothing more than to see them draw the kind of crowds the Huskies get here.

It would be nice to have woman's basketball as a revenue sport. ;)

i say keep the thread open. this is the basketball forum, yes? if you don't care about women's hoops, don't read or post.

i really hope that the ladies team starts to turn it around. the BEast has some good talent in UConn and L'ville.

Apparently no one in this thread realizes how good Kendall Hackney is. She'd be huge for the program.

Is there any reason to think she'd actually consider UC?

I watch womens sport every two years, Summer & Winter Olympics. UCAT member get an annual pass to WBB. In 20 twenty years in UCATS I have never used the passes. I once watch a UC/XU WBB on TV.

I watched HS Sports but onlywhen my daughter played. Once forced to go see USA Soccer at Crew Stadium. It was OK because a few were hot looking.

Don't hold you breath on UC WBB attendance exceeding 2,000

Hopefully the new coach can double the attendance like BK did in fball. However, the two wbb games I went to, I would guess it was more like 200 people in the stands.

Come on everybody. Tall BBall players need tall girlfriends!!!

I support every UC sport too. Those who are so adamantly opposed to discussing women's bball probably aren't UC grads - so their opinions are valued at 80% of a graduate's opinion. :D

Norris, you are absolutely correct; Kendall Hackney would be huge for our program. Unfortunately, she ain't coming here. I have known her and her parents since she was in elementary school and there is zero chance that she will be coming her. Originally, I think her 2nd choice after USC was UK. After that it was a mix of Notre Dame, Purdue, Ohio State, etc.
