I was a HS All-American who signed with UC but reneged and attended another school.
My backcourt teammate there (and I) both became more famous as Div I coaches. He is more famous than I am.
Who am I?

Hmmm...good one. Off the top of my head (bored while riding shotgun en route to Cleveland) I was gonna say Bob Knight, BUT as I think your hints thru, his teamates (Lucas and Havlicek) were def more famous as players, and I'm not even sure that Knight was a HS AA. Sooo...This was probably a wasted post :) I'll keep thinking.

Was it one of Pat Riley's UK teamates? Did Louie Dampier end up coaching?

Dave Bing? (Syracuse/Boeheilm) I know he had a very succesful post-BBall business career. Not sure if he coached.

It was Joe Harrington. He was from Maine, as I recall. Was a good, but not great college player. Don't recall that he made it to the NBA, but he might have played for a year or two in the ABA before the merger. In more recent years he served as an assistant coach to Gary Williams at Maryland. I recall when Harrington committed to UC, but then backed out. He would have been recruited by Tay Baker, under whom UC's basketball fortunes progressively suffered during his tenure.

Actually 1963 so he was recruited with Ed Jucker as HC and Tay Baker as chief assistant.
He was HS All-American as senior, 2x state champion, and 3x All-Stater at Morse HS in Bath, Maine.
