Not a surprise ...

but finally official. Trevor Anderson is at Michigan State and paying his own way.

From the Detroit News:

Defensive end Trevor Anderson has transferred from Cincinnati to Michigan State. He has enrolled in school and is expected to begin practicing this week.

Anderson, a 6-foot-2, 255-pounder who was named Cincinnati's top defensive lineman last season, must sit out this season. He also must pay his own way because Cincinnati did not release him from his scholarship. He had six sacks and 13 tackles for losses last season.

Anderson, who played for MSU coach Mark Dantonio at Cincinnati, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

I can't understand what this kid is thinking. Sure he'll get to play (maybe) in the Big Ten but he'll lose more games than he wins with no real shot at meaningful post season play. He could have stayed here and been a starter on an exciting up and coming team with a chance of winning a Big East title his senior year. He'd would have gotten way more exposure here than he will being at a Big Ten bottom feeder and he is more valuable to this team than to MSU.

Pay his own way. Student loans that will be somehow forgotten or paid off in a limp sum when he graduates?

He can't work and play - even if sitting out, can he? Not surprising that he would follow Dantonio, but something is fishy, and I don't know enough to believe this can be 100% above board. If there is a way, I am happy to admit wrong, but invite explanations.
