After being two miles from the Dallas Cowboys facility collapse, I don't blame TAMU which has now asked for a safety inspection on it's bubble. Are we sure this is such a good idea?

In a word: YES.

It was known by some people within the organization that the bubble the Cowboys used wasn't properly built, also, we don't exactly have the consistent threat for straight line and squall line winds that they experience in the central plains. The bubble will be great here and there is no reason to worry about it once it's been put in place.

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong. There are two types of bubble facilities. One is structurally supported the other is air supported. I believe that the one in TX was structurally supported and that the one proposed at UC is air supported. The air supported is much more safe.

The air ones can blow down a lot easier, but with less permanate damage or risk of injury. There is one where I have played tennis and it took a hit during the "hurricane" last year, but was back up early.
